Guest guest
Patty, I was wondering if Alpha Lipoic acid can be taken without using a chelator? I remember reading in an article by Dr.Mercola that if you use Alpha lipoic acid without DMSA, the ALA can cause mercury to enter other tissues. I will post the article below , I was going to take ALA but then I didnt because I wasnt taking a chelator along with it. The article is in reference to autism but it speaks of ALA. What do you think? http://www.mercola.com/2001/jun/2/mercury_autism3.htm I forgot to ask you this before b ut since you were on the subject I thought I would ask since I have the ALA but havent taken it yet. I wasshocked! I take it everyday an hour after thyroid with my breakfast Love
Guest guest
Barbara, Sure, as far as I know, ALA can be taken at any time, and I am sure there are tons of people taking it who aren't going through chelation at the same time. That article was very interesting. I know of another gentleman, actually a PhD chemist who is very knowledgeable about chelation therapy, and he suggested a protocol that used DMSA for a period of time, followed by ALA for a period of time. It sounds like that would work according to this article. There is alot of information, and it can be very confusing. I can only suggest doing some reading and then doing what makes you feel most comfortable. You may want to contact this guy and see what he says. He was great about communicating with me. His name is Hall Cutler, and he is a university professor, and author. If you do an internet search, you can find out more info about him. If you would like to try chelation therapy, you should look into it. It is not that expensive if you are trying to deal with mercury. DMSA is the chelator of choice there, and it can be taken by pill. It can even be bought online. (Dr. Cutler was the one who provided me with the info on that.) Many alternative docs will do chelation therapy with EDTA, which may not be the one that works best in our case. However, I would have no qualms about taking ALA alone. It is an excellent supplement.
