Are crowns OK to have? Just gathering info as I have many teeth with large fillings and I know some day I will hear the dentist say I need one. I wanted to ask you something else now that I think about it. You stated you had PCOS before I believe? I hope I'm not confusing you with someone else. Anyway, did you have high insulin levels? If so, did they decrease with the iodine? I am insulin resistant from PCOS and insulin levels were 18, but only went down to 16-17 since being on Metformin ER and exercising 1+ hours a day. My fasting glucose levels have come down to the low 80's, but no real change in insulin levels. I am currently taking 6.25mg of iodorol, as I decided to do it slowly. I am doing the sea alt as well. I do seem to have more energy since starting the iodorol, but wonder if it will lower insulin. I believe my extremely slow weight losses are due to the elevated insulin levels. I am going to try having insulin levels done in April. 2008 walking miles Goal 600 miles for 2008 January miles - 12 miles Year - 12 miles ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
Hi Donna, FWIW, my guess it that iodone will lower IR, tho' I don't fully understand IR. Iodoral lowered my exogenous insulin requirements by nearly half. >>>I wanted to ask you something else now that I thinkabout it. You stated you had PCOS before I believe? Guest guest
It does help with IR. I was much more improved after 6 mos of being on 50 mgs. I don't have issues anymore. I figure if insulin levels come down, I can lose the last 20-25 pounds of the hypo weight. 2008 walking miles Goal 600 miles for 2008 January miles - 12 miles Year - 12 miles ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. Guest guest
I never went on any drugs. I just worked with a ND until I went to Dr. Brownstein and then we were able to get it under control with Iodine. I was watching Dr Phil the other day. They had these women on who are diabetics and don't take their insulin because they lose weight when they don't take the insulin. It got me to thinking that perhaps my high insulin levels are making it difficult for me to lose weight. I lost some weight when first put on Met, but then weight loss stopped. I was just hoping iodine would lower the insulin levels because the Metformin ER and exercise is doing it. My dad is diabetic, and when he was on insulin in the hospital, his weight remained the same. As soon as he got off the insulin and on oral meds he lost a lot of weight. My Dad is another thing that shows to me insulin levels effect weight. My Dad is losing so much weight that he's thinking if asking to go back on insulin. 2008 walking miles Goal 600 miles for 2008 January miles - 12 miles Year - 12 miles ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? I ended up losing about 15 pounds from the Met, when I couldn't lose anything previously. I do however want to get off the Metformin if at all possible. I think if I can lose 20 pounds I'll be able to, but to do so I know the insulin levels will have to come down somehow. Thanks for the replies. 2008 walking miles Goal 600 miles for 2008 January miles - 12 miles Year - 12 miles ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Never miss a thing. You might want to have a reactivity test done to test that your immune system will not react with restorative materials since you are IR. My Dr. used the Clifford Reactivity test. It tests your blood against over 900 dental restorative materials from glues to materials in crowns, composite filling materials, etc. I wanted to make sure that when I removed my amalgams I didn't create another immune nightmare again.> > I wanted to ask you something else now that I think> about it. We didn't test until I had been on iodine for a while. I just had cystic ovaries and all the other symptoms so they labeled me PCOS. If so, did they decrease with the iodine? I started right off taking 50 mgs and have increasted to 75 when I got pain in my ovaries. Then this past Oct I went to 100 mgs. I am fighting thyroid cancer with the iodine. Guest guest
Donna, I think you are onto something. Those girls had eating disorders however, and are on their way to dying. So sad. I've known for years that diabetics don't *have* to gain weight on insulin. They gain because they eat whatever they want and "shoot" to cover it. More food = more insulin = more weight. In your case, I think that you will definitely lose weight and your insulin levels should lower when you get thyroid and all things optimal. I'm looking forward to being able to exercise enough to eventually get off of insulin, the right way. Could there be another reason your dad is losing weight? I like to watch our walking miles in your siggie. Best to you, Re: Re: teeth, insulin levels with iodine () --- GrammyD <lindamail@...> wrote:> Hi Donna,> > FWIW, my guess it that iodone will lower IR, tho' I> don't fully understand IR. > Iodoral lowered my exogenous insulin requirements by> nearly half.> > ====================Thanks .I was watching Dr Phil the other day. I just started looking into the iodine because obviously something is missing in keeping the insulin levels on the high side. =========================== I'm looking > forward to being able to exercise enough to > eventually get off of insulin, the right way. I hope the exercise works for you. The exercise only seems to maintain my weight. To lose anything, I have to exercise excessively. ======================= > Could there be another reason your dad is losing > weight? > I like to watch our walking miles in your siggie. ======================= I don't think so. He lost some weight when he first was diagnosed with diabetes, but lost a lot more after his heart attack. In rehab for the heart attack, he was on insulin and doing fine. The nurse was supposed to teach him how to use the insulin, but she never did. However, when they sent him home they put him back on oral meds and he lost about 15 pounds. He is now down to 130 pounds. I've been keeping track of my walking miles since 1999 when I was told I did not have hypothyroidism. I walked excessively 25 miles a week back then and somehow lost 15 pounds. 10 months later I finally got diagnosed with hypothyroidism. How I lost those 15 pounds back then, I'll never know. I have since lost another 15 pounds after going on the Metformin ER, but I haven't had any decent losses in the last 2 years. I have 20-25 more pounds to go. Besides my signature, I post my exercise on healthylivingwithhypothyroidism/ I find it helps keep me motivated. 2008 walking miles Goal 600 miles for 2008 January miles - 12 miles Year - 12 miles ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile.
