Guest guest
Since you have been on high doses of iodine for a while you have pushed out the major load of bromine which is the major risk of iodine with the fetus. It is not the iodine but the detoxing. We discussed this at the iodine conference in October and the consensus was that they felt comfortable with 12.5 mgs for a pregnant / nursing mother. Maybe more but they don't have good data. One thing you can do is a serum bromide test to see how much is circulating in you at the current iodine dose. That would give you a good indication of the toxic risk to the fetus / baby. How much Iodine in Pregnancy? >I am on a search to find out how much iodine is safe in pregnancy. Guest guest
thanks for the reply . I am confident my bromine levels are low and the detox is behind me. I think I'll just up the vitamin C and do salt loading for a week or so to be sure. thanks again, Judith

I've already gone through several bottles of organic whole food selenium. I quit taking it about a month ago when I adjusted to pregnancy level doses. IIRC, selenium is not advised over 40 mcg in pregnancy.
