Guest guest
O.k. thanks a million Dan. I can get fluids down and itty bitty pieces of meat. By the way, the whopper did include the bun. Jena new fill I haven't had a fill in nearly a year. This time the nurse gave me just a smidgen bringing me up from 2.75 to 2.9. Wow am I tight! I went from being able to eat 3/4 of a Whopper to pb'ing several times. I have lost 8 of the 25 lb I gained. Does the band loosen up after a while. I don't want to have to schlep back to NY for another unfill. Any advice? Guest guest
Sheila, I'm not one to go against what a doctor says so I'd advise doing what you were told. It's just a few days afterall and it's a fill. It's typical to do liquids at least for the first 24 hours after a fill because the stomach can be irritated and swollen from the fill. Knowing how to chew well has nothing to do with it really. I'm sure Sandy will give a better explanation M. @...: swat49ginger@...: Tue, 8 Jul 2008 14:32:36 -0700Subject: new fill after having a total unfill a month ago my reflux has thankfully settled down well.i have just returned from having a fill as i was starting to enjoy quantity again instead of quality.i had the fill with fluoscopy and the doc said all was fine with the band so put in 2ml(not sure what this is in cc,s). he also told me fluids only for two days then blended food.is this necessary when i have had the band for three years so i am very used to chewing until food is fine enough not to stick.Of course i will do as the doctor said but wondered what the reason was.thanks sheila
Guest guest
Sheila, this sounds great! SO glad all looks fine ! 2 cc (cubic centimetres) is the same as 2 ml (Millilitres) . The doc is being a bit conservative in his post-fill instructions, but this is fine. I know he is aware of your past trouble and wants to go slowly. the reason for liquds then purees for a few days is to allow the swelling that normally occurs after all fills to heal, before you put real food thru, even if well-chewed. After 3-5 days, we should be able to eat real food if we rememebr the pea-sized bites and thorough chewing. You have wise doc, and I'd do what he asks. sandy r > > after having a total unfill a month ago my reflux has thankfully settled down well.i have just returned from having a fill as i was starting to enjoy quantity again instead of quality.i had the fill with fluoscopy and the doc said all was fine with the band so put in 2ml(not sure what this is in cc,s). he also told me fluids only for two days then blended food. > is this necessary when i have had the band for three years so i am very used to chewing until food is fine enough not to stick.Of course i will do as the doctor said but wondered what the reason was. > thanks sheila > > > > >

Guest guest
Well Sandy, you DID say it more eloquently, but that's your job as an educator. I'm just an unemployed accountant LOL OMG, did I tell you all that my job was ELIMINATED??? I worked for Bowles Fluidics who is a manufacturer of auto nozzles (wipers for Ford, GM, Toyota, Honda, Hyundai, etc, almost all makes) as well as many household nozzles (Jacuzzi, Delta, SC , etc). The company is having major cutbacks because of the huge lull in auto sales. SO, my job was cut. Payroll was given to HR and all my accounting duties related to payroll reporting (labor, etc) was distributed to the rest of the department. Surprisingly I thought I'd eat more staying at home, but I'm eating less or maybe I'm just eating better! I'm working on a nice tan and Kylie loves that I stay home with her. We're saving money on fuel (I was driving 50+ miles a day) and daycare plus now I'm home to cook all of our meals. For the first time in my life I'm riding on unemployment. I'm 15 weeks pregnant so it's probably a good thing for me to have less stress. My BP was actually better at my last OB appt. So that's it. I hope all is well for everyone! @...: moonshadow.sandy@...: Tue, 8 Jul 2008 21:59:57 +0000Subject: Re: new fill Hether said it perfectly ! Guest guest
Hmmmmm...sounds to me that this timing is ideal! you can stay home, get the unemployment, save gas, cook good meals, and take very good care of yourself , the growing baby, and your family. Doesn't sound too bad to me at all! Sandy r > > > Well Sandy, you DID say it more eloquently, but that's your job as an educator. Guest guest
Well NOW it is perfect, but the day they told me I was upset, then angry, then lost my mind. The typical rotation of emotions. They did pay me 2 weeks severance (big spenders!) and told me I didn't have to repay the tuition they paid for, which is great because I was going to leave them in December at which time I'd have to repay $16,000. _________________________________________________________________ It’s a talkathon – but it’s not just talk. http://www.imtalkathon.com/?source=EML_WLH_Talkathon_JustTalk
Guest guest
Sorry to hear you job was eliminated, but you will never regret the time you get to spend with Kylie. I was able to stay with my kids until the youngest was 3, then I had to go back to work. It's been a long time now, because she's a senior in High School, but I have very fond memories of that time. In today's economy it is a gift to be able to stay home, even if it is just for a while. I unfortunately did eat more while I was home, and the wrong foods. The food was there all the time, If I had it to do over again I would do what I do now, and just not keep any foods that aren't good for me in the house, so the temptation is not there. (or at least if I want something I have to go through an extra effort to get it) I used the excuse that my growing kids (4 boys and a girl) needed those higher fat/sugar foods because they use so much energy, but when I was banded and made the change they were very supportive and appreciated the chance to eat healthier themselves too. The ony person that baulks at all is my husband, and thats a whole set of different issues. Good luck at home, N > > > > Well Sandy, you DID say it more eloquently, but that's your job as > an educator. Guest guest
as usual good advice from those who know. because i feel i am starting anew i have just read through your advice files.couple of questions. what is kashi? i am looking at healthy snacks and was wondering if nuts such as almonds or cashews are healthy and suitable for bandsters. i was also mentioned that tastes often change after banding and for me fish has become a new favourite food especially salmon.Prawns i have always liked but couldnt eat them after banding.i a hoping having some fluid removed then a small fill i will allow me to eat them. sheila new fill > > > > > after having a total unfill a month ago my reflux has thankfully settled down well.i have just returned from having a fill as i was starting to enjoy quantity again instead of quality.i had the fill with fluoscopy and the doc said all was fine with the band so put in 2ml(not sure what this is in cc,s). he also told me fluids only for two days then blended food.is this necessary when i have had the band for three years so i am very used to chewing until food is fine enough not to stick.Of course i will do as the doctor said but wondered what the reason was.thanks sheila[Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > > > _________________________________________________________________ > Making the world a better place one message at a time. > http://www.imtalkathon..com/?source=EML_WLH_Talkathon_BetterPlace > >
