Guest guest
I sent mine in myself after I got them from the PS because I was afraid they would not send it to Dr. Blais the correct way. If you do not send it exactly to his specifications they won't recieve it and its a huge mess to locate them. I've heard stories by the lady Dr. Blais works with of them not getting them because the PS office didn't lable the package correctly and it cost a lot of money and time to track them down. Up to 600.00. even . So I thought to myself I don't want to take that chance. The reason they prefer the pt not to send themselves is they think the pt could tamper with the evidence (explants). The lady told me personally though if you don't tamper with the evidence its rare that it becomes a problem. My PS put them in sealed sterile bag after surgery, gave them to me and i never touched them. I looked at them through the bag, it was clear plastic on one side. My husband explained this to Dr. Blais via phone and Blais said that is just fine and thats exactly the package he wants them sent in. I did not choose the sterile bag, my PS just happen to put it in the exact bag Dr. Blais recommends. I lucked out I guess. I felt better with me sending them, so its whatever you are more comfortable with. Deb Debnantynannie <nantynannie@...> wrote: Hey guys,Thanks for the advice. I will clarify with doc what he meant,he mentioned pathology charge $250.00. So I think he was saying that they go back to manufacturer who will do the pathology, but now I am not sure. I will double check everything at preop appointment thanks to you guys. Just to clarify, I saw that one girl said not to take custody of implants and someone else said she mailed them herself (Debbie?) to Blais. Which way is better? I remember that the doc also said, "Those are mine, they come back to me (manufacturer or whatever). We are obligated to take them and have them tested." And I was thinking, "No, they are mine, I paid for them." But I really didn't care at the time, so I didn't say anything...and he was being very friendly and not discouraging the surgery. It will be interesting to see if he puts up an arguement when I tell him that I want them. Also, were yours weighed after explant and did they weigh the same as when you put them in? Thanks again,Ann
