Guest guest
yes all those soft yummy foods go thru the band with no problem however, on night last month I was at a dinner party, and ice cream was the desert. and it did not go down, it did'nt melt so started to get stuck. donna - 16 moths out, 64 punds gone, and learning each day @...: mr.bubbles2006@...: Tue, 25 Nov 2008 15:29:00 +0000Subject: Why does ice cream go down so nice? Guest guest
I'm afraid that it's a sad truth that the band works only with good band foods - primarily solid protein. that is why all/most meals should start with a few bites of solid protein. It goes thru the slowest, and kind of " backs up " food behind it, to fill us sooner. Not fair, for sure! I also don't even keep ice cream in the house. if I want some, i have to go out for one dish. And, thankfully, most of the time I'm too lazy to, and just settle for some sugar free jello puddding. Sandy r > > I have had 4 fills and eat small amounts of the right foods . (Now cookies that's a completely different story!) When I do decide to eat ice cream, it's a very small dish and very slowly...normally by the time I'd be finished most of it's all melted! In my head it has something to do with the thickness of it...I have the same problem with really cream soups (lobster bisque, cheesey soups, etc...) Guest guest
Kem, I sure agree. I believe in regular treats, so we don't feel deprived. Banding is not a diet that we stop at some point. it is a new lifestyle that must be permanent (with the usual small goofs and occasaional setbacks) if we want to keep the weight off. surely yu don't think you must never have ice cream again, ken? That would be horrible.. :-) We are supposed to be learning better eating and food choices forever now - and this does NOT mean misery and deprivation, but small treats so we don't feel deprived. For me, it was a small dish of ice cream every weekend, and a small piece of good chocolate maybe 3x a week. Then i was not tempted to eat a whole gallon of ice cream or a whole box of chocolates. ther key is moderation. Guest guest
Beer is carbonated, and THAT is bad, as the carbonation can dilate the pouch. but i don't believe in never ever having ice cream. that, to me, would be like a siren song calling to me, day and night. a lot of this is psychological. I also love ice cream, so allow myself a small portion of the low- sugar kind weekly. Then i don't think about it 24 hrs a day, and eventually cave in, being human. Guest guest
, while I DO have trouble with the ice cream, I do NOT have issue with creamed soups. I think it has to do with the cold versus hot factor in restricting my band. @...: strawberrybaby469@...: Tue, 25 Nov 2008 19:03:34 -0800Subject: Re: Why does ice cream go down so nice? Guest guest
Kem, I definitely do not have too tight of a fill (I was unfilled and started refilling when I became pregnant so I'm pretty loose at this point), but I DO agree that I must tighten up from the coldness of the ice cream and I think that the soft serve has air in it which doesn't help. @...: Losinit4good@...: Wed, 26 Nov 2008 15:24:13 -0800Subject: Re: Why does ice cream go down so nice? <<Re: Why does ice cream go down so nice?Posted by: " Modispaw " hmodispaw@... hmodispawTue Nov 25, 2008 6:04 pm (PST)I honestly have a hard time with ice cream, especially soft serve. Guest guest
I just put ice cream out of my mind, in the same way as Beer. I hope I never do eat ice cream again but I know that it won't kill me. This is a lifestyle change and in my mind by just saying " Ive had a good run, time to turn a new page " well it seems to work for me. I do know that I will never have another beer........and the idea that it could actually hurt me (carbonated)...well that will keep me away, cause Im chicken when it comes to that!! ________________________________ From: moonshadow.sandy <moonshadow.sandy@...> Sent: Tuesday, November 25, 2008 8:31:10 PM Subject: Re: Why does ice cream go down so nice?
