Guest guest
Hi girls, even though I decided against getting implants I check this page daily, and I just read this past message to Joanne, and I'm puttin in my two sense about Dr. Elmed....I saw some info about him on another page talking about how dangerous implants are and what not, and I emailed him asking him what he thought and about how I wanted to get them, and he emailed me back that same day, advising me against them, and he sounded nice and gave me his number if I wanted to call him and he promised he would steer me straight as if I was his own daughter, I think you should give him a try... Guest guest
Yikes! He had to rupture them to remove them?? With silicone gel?? I'm so sorry Joanne, he is a complete idiot! He should have never compromised you in this regard, and a nipple incision just wasn't going to cut it. He needed to do an en bloc removal if he knew there was leaking silicone gel. (I never cease to be amazed at these doctors. Where in the world did they get their education? I think they are making things up as they go.) I know you are in a tough spot. And emotionally this is taking its toll as well. Dr. Gilbert Lee is reputed to be a good doctor, but he doesn't sound like he is helping you in your situation, as most plastic surgeons don't like to be told what to do by other plastic surgeons....pride gets in the way too often. You probably should go ahead and get the MRI--if there is loose silicone floating around in your body, it does need to be removed if possible. Otherwise, you are going to experience misery as that silicone travels and lodges places. It is true that it will try to work its way out, but in the meantime, you will not be able to heal well. You may want to call Dr. Feng's office and see what she recommends, or even just talk to Dr. Middleton. If I remember right, he used to work with Dr. Feng--I may be wrong on that one, but if he did work with Feng, he is excellent! He should be able to give you good information. In any case, I am sorry for what you are going through Joanne. You should never have been treated this way. Who explanted you? Patty ----- Original Message ----- From: joanneinpain Sent: Wednesday, February 18, 2004 5:53 PM Subject: pain after explan I am not sure how to answer your questions through this website so I'll post a new one, Rogene. I did have a fever of 101 for a few days. My surgeon was out of town and so an associate did a needle biopsy in which he got a little yellow fluid. The results were clear for bacteria and so my surgeon decided it was a flu that I picked up somewhere. (I had gone back to work as a nurse in a home where there was a flu). He thinks it will all go away with time as the swelling is going down. But I got a second opinion and this doctor (gilbert Lee) ordered the MRI. I was told over and over by my original surgeon that the implants were leaking but he did not use EnBloc and had to rupture them to get them out through the nipple incision. I am upset that he doesn't care about what is going on and the new doctor says that I need to stay with my original doctor and he will help advise him on the plan of treatment after the MRI. I feel like I am going crazy some days with the expense and the thoughtlesness of the medical world. If I could just put my trust in just one of them but it looks as though I can only trust the wonderful women on the net who have lived through this nightmare. I would be really lost right now without all of you.
