Guest guest
OK Bella - we understand. How long are you going hypo for before you have your blood tests? Hope you don't make yourself too unwell. These doctors have no idea what they are putting us through in order to regain our health. Luv - Sheiola Hi all,Just to let you know I'm not getting on to the forum at the moment as I am going steadily hypo whilst I prepare for blood tests. I am staying off the forum for the time being as I don't have the staying power to trawl through the messages. If anyone is trying to get hold of me please email and give me a little time and I'll get back to you.Luv Bella No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
The answer is that if you take thyroid hormone replacement before your blood test, you will have an elevated thyroid hormone reading and not a correct reading of what is happening. Read the message I have just posted under "From Dr Skinner's Transcripts (GMC). luv - Sheila Hi bellaI don't understand why you going hypo before going to docs, sorry if Iam being too nosey lol. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, Thanks for that. I'm getting the tests done tomorrow and I'm so looking forward to popping my first T3 tablet as today I'm barely functioning and in pain. I just hope I get some useful results. Guest guest
AHHHH Now then, there you go: I never knew T4 showed elevated readings just t3 so I will remember that next time I have tests. So how long do you recommend staying off for? Is that all meds including non thyroid meds too? And Bella, good luck, hope you don't get too ill. lotsa luv Dawn
Guest guest
You just need to stay off thyroid medication if you are having thyroid function tests done. Stay off, if possible, for a week. T4 has a long half life so you should be fine and not feel any adverse effect during this time. You can continue taking your thyroxine as soon as you have had your blood drawn. When you get the results, be sure to post them with the reference range for each test so we can understand what is happening. luv - Sheila AHHHH Now then, there you go: I never knew T4 showed elevated readings justt3 so I will remember that next time I have tests. I'm still feeling a bit off as the weekend was pretty horrible but am glad it's all over for now. Thanks for the good wishes Dawn.
