> How come he's drinking mistures.

Hi, Everyone................Gareth is not in the hospital. Gareth had

to drink a barium mixture in the X-ray room so they could take x-rays of his

esophagus, stomach, and intestines. If you do not drink the solution, they

can't see inside you to figure out what is wrong. I was very proud of him

that he drank all 3 different solutions when he was told to. They do not

taste very good.

Margaret,

Oh I understand. I guess I'd be proud of him to; to drink anything

that didn't taste good. He probablly knew that if he drank it then they

could see the inside of him when they did the x rays. I'd had x rays of my

back probablly 200 times or more so far, and they haven't given me any

medicane to drink. That's probablly, cause the back is easier to see, then

the intences and stuff because the spine isn't covered with bones or muscle.

Lidia, i think you mean an ENDOSCOPY. that is the test used to see

inside your stomach and esophagus with a thin lighted tube.

If they use the new tiny tubes, or a pediatric tube, it should get

thru with no trouble. But do make sure he is experienced with band

and band patients.

He is being wisely cautious, as any unexplained stomach cramps should

be thoroughly investigated.

You should also check in with dr Kuri, though, as an erosion is also

easily seen on a fluoro, and i know you have had them regularly.

had 1100 calories a day to consume.. no more. WOW that's it? OK.. so

I started to treat it like a bank account.. I have 1100 a day to

spend and I deduct from it. Today is day 3 and I went a bit over.. (I

can tell I will with dinner) after having chipotle for lunch.

Normally I eat lunch at work.. but I'm in a training class this week

and I'm eating out :( I didn't eat it all, but I still know it was

high in calories. So tonight will be a simple dinner and I have to

hit the gym and work out longer since I chose that for lunch.

Lidia,

I don't recall any of that for my upper GI. I just drank some

disgusting stuff and they took a series of pics. Are you sure you

aren't having an endoscopic procedure?

Sandy,

this doctor does not have much experience with banded people. I do not believe

lot of gastroenterologys have here in california, but he is a good doctor, and I

told him I have a the band and he has " basic knowleadge " .

I will remaind him about the tube size.

Now, refresh my memory about " erotions " . Dr. Kuri did not tell me that I had

one, he said that the pouch was a little enlarge.

Should I call Dr. Kuri for advise?

Thanks

Lidia

Yes, we should always call our surgeons for advice and ask that other

docs consult our band surgeons.

Pouch dilations are very different than eroosions. Erosions are very

serious, and always require band removal quickly.

There are clear signs of erosions, and I'm not sure a non-band-

trained general GI doc will know about them, or know what to look for.

You might call Dr Helmuth , a very excellent band surgeon in

Thousand Oaks who sees many Kuri parients for fills nd consults, and

see who he would recommend as a GI doc. Dr would also be an

excellent one to get a second opinion from. He could likely do the

endoscopy himself too.

I'll repost my " erosion " document on teh Kuri board for you.

It's confusing for me and I have a hard time following it when you

post the same question on several different boards I'm active

on... :-)
