Guest guest
In researching on the net, I found a site about breast cysts: http://www.breastcancer.org/symptoms/testing/mammograms/mamm_show.jsp Calcifications Calcifications are tiny flecks of calcium — like grains of salt — in the soft tissue of the breast...usually can't be felt, but they appear on a mammogram. Cysts Unlike cancerous tumors which are solid, cysts are fluid-filled masses in the breast. Fibroadenomas Fibroadenomas are movable, solid, rounded lumps made up of normal breast cells. While not cancerous, these lumps may grow. And any solid lump that's getting bigger is usually removed to make sure that it's not a cancer. Fibroadenomas are the most common kind of breast mass, especially in young women. ****************** My solid cysts are not tiny flecks, lol, so I am assuming that they are fibroadenomas. Does iodine help these to shrink? Guest guest
Lynne, for what it's worth to your documentation... I have had great sucess with using Lugol's to resolve several areas of localized myxedema (pooled area of mucin...from trauma...can occur in those with TSH receptor antibodies) I'm still working on one area...and tomorrow will use progesterone on this area too...based on the info you posted. What i have found is that the Lugol's does several things: It actually dissolves some of the mucinous areas - allowing the skin to absorb it? - and I suspect this action works on cysts in a similar fashion. It loosen some mucinous areas from the surrounding area and expels it via the skin. It works from the bottom up - so regeneration of the area occurs (Dr. derry talks about this) I've just been amazed at this use for Lugol's... I've done research on treatments for localized myxedema - and other than hydrocortisone cream and retin-a - that has had limited results - there just isn't a good treatment - other than high dose steroids. Which reminds me...I think physiological HC has a big place in skin disorder...including cysts and such... anyway - it's a shame that mainstream medicine wouldn't even listen to this (I tried with two dermatologists- no interest)...just a pat on the head basically with them saying " glad you found something that works " .... cindi > > We have had women in our Iodine Investigation Project get rid of cysts with > a method based on Dr. Funahashi's research with rats. > > They take 50 mg Iodoral by mouth. > They apply Lugol's topically over the cystic area (diluted if it irritates > the skin). > Then they apply a small amount of topical progesterone to the cyst area. > > Funahashi found that progesterone made the cells take up iodine much better. > > Please let me know if you have success with the " Funahashi method " as the > research is important to document. Guest guest
Hello. I'd love to try the Lugol's method below to paint the Lugol's on my parathyroid cyst. I am currently taking 50 mgs of Iodoral -- can I continue that and still do the Lugol's? And do I need to dilute the Lugol's? THANKS! Guest guest
I'm not taking Iodoral....so don't really know... but if you aren't having any problems with the 50 mg. Iodoral...my guess would be that a few drops of Lugol's transdermally isn't going to be a problem. I don't dilute the Lugol's....and usually " paint " twice a day...but it can be quite drying to the skin after a few days...i've just used vaseline rubbed on the area in between " painting " to keep some moisturization going on. cindi > > Hello. Guest guest
Hi Cindi, I'm new to this group and still trying to read all the information. I am wondering how to tell if the swollen areas on my ankles/feet (these have been like this for years and seem to be permanent)is myxedema? I applied Lugol's to one ankle tonight after reading this post. Thought I would try one at time to see if I can tell a difference. I have been reading about myxedema but still am not sure if that is what I have. Do you know of any good articles on this subject? By the way, this is all very interesting. Glad to find this group. Guest guest
oh....this may well be pretibial myxedema in this area....not quite sure where you're describing... below your knee too? very common to graves folks...but hashi's folks can get it. in fact i was quite surprised I didn't, given that i developed some localized myxedema. you may want to google " pretibial myxedema " for some images... This can go from bad to worse...as in just plaques...to a nodular form.... hydrocortisone is in the literature as a treatment...and i found that HC really helped resolve some areas i had. cindi > > > > This does describe what I have. Guest guest
Cindi, I found some pics. Don't think this is what I have! That is just horrible. What I have is just swelling, no lesions or anything like that. It does ache especially if I am on my feet much at all. I did have hashi's and don't know if I still have antibodies, but went to lab today to have that tested along with aldosterone, renin, ferritn, B12, and thyroid tests. They don't do the iodine loading test at this lab. Wanted to have that done too. No, not below knee, just at ankles. So you just use the HC cream on this? Iodine as well? Thanks for everything. Guest guest
I've used both (alternating days)...with very good results on resolving mucin accumulation. Pulse steroid therapy is also used for this. good luck! cindi > > > No, not below knee, just at ankles. > > So you just use the HC cream on this? Iodine as well? Guest guest
Thanks Cindi, will try both. Lynn > > > > > > No, not below knee, just at ankles. > > > > So you just use the HC cream on this? Iodine as well? >
