Guest guest
HI Dee Usually, CoEnzymeQ10 is extremely safe, and it has even been used to relieve migraine headaches. http://headaches.about.com/cs/prevention/a/coq10_prev.htm However, headaches have been reported as a side effect (no idea what percentage) so perhaps you had better have a word with your doctor. How much are you taking and how long have you been taking it? If you started on a large dose, you might want to lower the dose and take it more slowly and let your body get used to it that way. Are you taking other BP medications at the same time? http://www.cellhealthmakeover.com/coq10-coenzyme-q10.html - this is an excellent article by the way Have any side effects or risks been reported from coenzyme Q10? No serious side effects have been reported from the use of coenzyme Q10. Some patients using CoQ10 have experienced mild insomnia (inability to sleep), elevated levels of liver enzymes, rashes, nausea, and upper abdominal pain. Other reported side effects have included dizziness, visual sensitivity to light, irritability, headache, heartburn, and fatigue. Patients should talk with their health care provider about possible interactions between coenzyme Q10 and prescription drugs they may be taking. Certain drugs, such as those that are used to lower cholesterol or blood sugar levels, may reduce the effects of CoQ10. Coenzyme Q10 may also alter the body’s response to warfarin (a drug that prevents the blood from clotting) and insulin. Luv - Sheila I started taking CoQ10 last Thursday and I have had a constant badheadache since.Has anyone else had the same problem and does it go after a while? If this carries on I will have to stop them as it's really getting medown. :(Luv Dee No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG Free Edition. Guest guest
Hi Sheila, I have been taking them since last Thursday, 30mg x 3 times a day, and I have kept them apart from taking my BP meds (Valsartan). Guest guest
Hi Dee, I'm not taking thyroid meds, but I am taking occasional CoQ10 at about 30mg two or three times a week, for the moment, for high cholesterol, but it's not that high. If I start taking statins, that sometimes unduces a deficiency of CoQ10 and your muscles can ?ache for that reason. When I asked my doc about that, he said use about 30mg CoQ10; I don't want to take statins if I can help it. alpha Lipoic acid may be useful as well, but you need to find out (individually) which parts of the supplementary regime work best for you. My DW swears by the CoQ10 for maintaining her energy levels; she's been on thyroid meds and cortisol for about eighteen years, but has morerecently discovered the CoQ10 benefit. If you get seriously lacking in energy, that may get you somewhere on the road to quicker recovery, both short-term and long-term. Make sure you keep your magnesium and calcium levels about right as well. best wishes Bob > > > > > > Hi Dee, > > > > How much are you taking? > > >
Guest guest
Thanks Bob, I haven't got high cholesterol thank goodness, but thought I would try them for a bit of extra boost, I'm 56 and they say it depletes as you get older. So you think maybe two or three times a week would be sufficient? My husband was on Statins and ended up being not able to walk as all his joints were so painful, he came off them and was better within a few days, but now some 12 months or so after stopping the Statins his joints are really painful again and he's waiting to see a Rheumatologist later this month. I think the Statins have damage him. So anyone taking them BEWARE!!! Guest guest
Hi Dee, I'd suggest incrementing the amount upwards slowly (from 1 or 2 x30mg /day over a week or so......you may get up to the level Sheila (and the reference) suggests, if that's what is really needed .... depends on how much you produce yourself. It's becoming more widely recognised that mitchondrial problems are important. Enough, that something can be done to improve matters for many more people than was at first thought possible. best wishes Bob > > > > Hi Dee, > > > > I'm not taking thyroid meds, but I am taking occasional CoQ10 at > > about 30mg two or three times a week, for the moment, for high > > cholesterol, but it's not that high. > > >
Guest guest
Hi Dee, I have had no problems with coQ10 maybe you are reacting to one of the fillers? Subject: Co Q10 question I started taking CoQ10 last Thursday and I have had a constant bad headache since. Has anyone else had the same problem and does it go after a while? If this carries on I will have to stop them as it's really getting me down. Luv Dee Messages are not a substitute for professional medical advice.
