Could be, but if you are on medications, particularly allergy meds, they can cause dry mouth also. All meds (not hormones) have side effects, some of them include dry mouth and fatigue. I scored 32. I don't know if that is bad or good. I have been taking Magnesium Taurate and recently ran out. I also take a very good Calcium with C, B2, D, 200 mg.Magnesium Oxide, Carbonate, Boron, Potassium and Mangenese. My problems may have possibly worsened a tad when I ran out of the other Magnesium that I take separately this week. Looking forward to your responses...... Guest guest
Hi , I know we've talked about the importance of iodine to the salivary glands on this list but I don't recall any particular references or research. I did a quick search of the past messages and I think the following are pretty interesting, talking about that relationship (though I'm sure there are even more messages besides these): 3675, 3002, 2792, 2372. At least one person said they had a huge increase in their saliva (which was good!) after starting iodine. Best wishes to you, Sharon > Hi - I am a member at Natural Thyroid Hormones and posted today about > attempting to do a saliva test through canary club and I didn't have a > drop of saliva in my mouth this morning. I >> couldn't produce a drop of saliva if my life depended on it! >> I used to have something like that ... when I would wake up my eyes were glued shut, no tears, no saliva either. I'm pretty sure now that it was the beginning of Sjogren's syndrome, which also produces a lot of aches and pains. There are some other things that can cause it too. Do you have any of the following symptoms: -- Canker sores -- white spots on your fingernails -- Bloating, diarrhea, constipation, gurgling, gas -- nausea after meals -- migraines -- itchy skin -- rosacea Also drinking alcohol before you go to bed can lead to dry mouth in the morning. Some people seem to get relief by taking 1000 mg of vitamin C before bedtime (vitamin C acts like an antihistamine, and histamine might be what causes the symptoms). -- Heidi >>
Guest guest
We know that iodine helps hydrate the cells. So an existing dehydration is lessened and I think that the salivary glands are just use to being stuck on full throttle to keep the mouth wet in the dry body. I think the drooly condition would adjust itself. Keep in mind that very few (10% ?) of us experienced that side effect. However my urine PH went from acid to perfect range after dosing for 3 months. My body water scale says I am right in the range I am supposed to be on a regular basis...that is a big change. I think that based on what you are saying that the saliva issue is a minor problem compared to the rest of the symptoms. Dehydration is possible even with drinking loads of water if the water is not absorbed into the cells. An interruption of the sodium potassium pump (active transport) by a mineral imbalance would cause you to become dehydrated. Constipation would also become a problem. http://www.brookscole.com/chemistry_d/templates/student_resources/shared_resourc\ es/animations/ion_pump/ionpump.html Magnesium Magnesium acts as a cofactor in more than 300 enzymatic reactions in the human body and is necessary for key body functions including nerve impulse transmission, temperature regulation, detoxification reactions, muscular activity, energy production and the synthesis of DNA and RNA. **** It helps sodium and potassium move across cell membranes and plays a part in the metabolism of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. **** http://www.hsrmagazine.com/articles/521feat2.html Magnesium Taurate seems to be a good type based on this article maybe better than mg Glycinate, but the oxide and carbonate are not very absorbable. http://www.coldcure.com/html/dep.html#taurine How much calcium and magnesium are you taking now? --- monica <mcameli@...> wrote: > Hi - I am a member at Natural Thyroid Hormones and posted today about > attempting to do a saliva test through canary club and I didn't have a > drop of saliva in my mouth this morning.
