How many of you have experienced an enlarged thyroid after supplementing with iodine? I can feel it and see it.

I want to do the loading test, but now my ND is worried about doing the loading, because my thyroid is enlarged. I would like to do the loading so that I know if I am saturated (and whether that has anything to do with my thyroid being enlarged).

Any help is greatly appreciated!

About 4-5 days.

How long did it take to go away? This is my first iodine

free day.

Thanks,

I had the same thing, Olif. It went away in 4-5 days, no more than a

week, IIRC. I was on 8 drops/day when I had the problem.

I went back onto iodine slowly - 3 drops/week to start. I'm now back to

6 drops/day & the swelling/stinging feeling hasn't returned.

No, I don't, Olif. I came up negative on my thyroid antibody tests. I

just have " regular " hypothyroid issues.

Good to hear that the swelling is going down :)

so in your case the swelling was only a temporary thing as you

started out on the iodine?

I'm currently hypothyroid and Iodoral makes me feel much better,

better yet now that I've added Vitamin C to the regimen. I did have a

hard way to go for the first week or so, but I remembered reading

that most adverse effects are only temporary, and to give it at least

a week.

In my case, yet. Taking a break & working my way back up slowly to a

lower dose seems to have solved it. 8 drops caused a problem; 6 drops

is working out for me currently.

BTW, my loading test came back at 70%. I took it in mid-October. So I

don't seem to be as low as some others here. I had some pimples on my

chest for the first couple of weeks & then again when I reached 8

drops, so maybe some fluoride/bromide detoxing going on there. I have

a couple of amalgam fillings too (which I want to get removed). No

problems with pimples now, on 6 drops.

When I stopped, my subjective sense of feeling cold, and my cold

hands, came back. My hands are warm now.

I'm going to redo the loading test in another month or so to see how

I'm doing.

All almonds are treated chemically even if they say they are raw. There are raw

foodists who are selling/buying in the black market. Farmers can sell them

legally, directly from their farms, if you go pick them up.

I stopped eating nuts completely because of the PUFA's. I check my basal body

temp on certain foods. That is the home test to know if a food is adversely

affecting your thyroid. Sprouted lentils really brought my temps down.
