Guest guest
I think it would be called a false high because there is not a great amount of T3 being produced by the thyroid. It is collecting because it cannot be used. Since T3 is being used as a measure of thyroid function, the test, in this case, is not valid. Anyway, if anyone knows a medical journal reference that discusses this I would love to be able to present it to my doctor. Dorothy > It's not a " false " high T3. Guest guest
High cortisol inhibits the conversion of T4 to T3, so you typically show up with high T4 and low T3. Sometimes though, your T4 will look "o.k." because your body will convert it to Reverse T3 (RT3.)- Janet B.On Jun 13, 2008, at 12:09 PM, meredith senter wrote:how does high cortisol affect T3?dorothyroeder <dorothyroeder@...> wrote:I think it would be called a false high because there is not a greatamount of T3 being produced by the thyroid. Guest guest
I don't think I am getting enough cortisal as my freeT3 has not dropped. In what form do people take to get their cortisal? Guest guest
It's best to take the saliva test first to determine your cortisol levels (from DiagnosTechs at www.canaryclub.org.) If your levels are not too low, Isocort may be enough, or some other adrenal supplement. If they are very low, you'll need hydrocortisone (prescription) and you should also determine if you are hypopituitary because then you would need HC for life.- Janet B.On Jun 13, 2008, at 8:46 PM, Boal wrote:I don't think I am getting enough cortisal as my freeT3 has not dropped.
