Hi, Randy - welcome! I used to live in toledo and miss Lake Erie and

michigan a lot.

You've done great with your loss! Way to go!

But as i always ask to new people..have you done it safely , with

good nutrition and adequate calories so you don't regain later, as is

so easy?

Very little vomiting or other trouble? Never so tight a band that you

cannot eat 3 decent small meals a day, and about 1500-1800 cal

minimum, for a guy?

we're never trying to eat as little as possible, but to lose safely

and in a health way.

You'll find lots of good info in the files and datbase here - start

with the band guide that covers all the basics.

Please ask anytghing you wish, and share more about your journey if

you'd like!

Dan L, our wonderful owner nd co-moderator is off sailin the Pacific

on his retirement 4-month cruise with his sweet wife, s is gone for a

bit. but we're all holding down the fort as best we can.

Glad you're with us!

Thanks for asking about my health. I'm eating about 100 grm of protien

a day and drinking 64 oz of water. I have been working out daily and we

enjoy long bike rides on the rail to trails from Big Rapids to

City ,Mi. We walk at least 3 miles a day also . Full Gym in the Barn...

I think I loss the weight in the right way and slowly so I well not

have a problum regaining it.

Hope you are working out too

Sounds great, Randy! Good for you! you've taken your loss and

regaining your health very seriously. We'd love to have you start a

photo album and shrae some pictures of your great progress.

I'd suggest a bit more fluid - we need about 80-100 oz a day,

especially if working out well. See the document in the files

called " Water " to learn why.

Don't forget about the essential fiber too - we all need 25 gm a day,

in the form of whole grain cereals and crackers, lots of veggies, and

a bit of fruit.

Men also need daily calcium - 1000 mg - but this is easy to get from

nonfat dairy products or a calcium citrate supplement (not calcium

carbonate)

Glad you found us!

Welcome!

Most of us get plenty of protein (women need only 50-60gm/day) but

many don't get the fiber, calcium, omega 3 oils, etc that are every

bit as important.

The emphasis on protein is a left-over thing from the bypass training

of docs, and is pretty over-emphasized.

If we have too muh protein, we then are deficint in the other needed

things, if we are limiting to the 1200-1500 cal a day ideal for most

women. the good carbs should be 50-55% of a healthy diet.

Kim, You've lost a lot quickly - please be sure you're meeting

calorie and nutrition guidelines. We're never trying to lose as fast

as possible, as that can set our metabolism " set point " was too low

to avoid later regain.

Your exercise sounds great, as long as you're supporting it with

adequate calories. Be sure to vary your exercises and get both cardio

and weight training, for maxium benefit.

Glad you're here!
