Hi Sarma,

I just priced the surgery at our local hospital in Louisiana. To have

your gallbladder removed the hospital charges $11,000 and the surgeon

charges another $800. There is a charity hospital in Baton Rouge that

will do it for free. I am choosing to change my diet and educate

myself before resorting to having my gallbladder taken out. I was

recently diagnosed with an inflammed gallbladder. The ultrasound

failed to find any gallstones but they said my gallbladder wall

thickness was 6mm and my common bile duct is 7 mm which is near the

upper limits of normal (I don't know what normal is). The doctor

recommended removal if I continue to have pain. I am trying to

maintain a proper diet but it is hard because I have never really

known how to eat healthy. Hope this info helps. Just think about it

very hard and read everything you can before you have surgery.
