I did 3 liver flushes to remove gallstones and I never had a gallbladder attack an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure. I am also sure it is much easier to do a liver flush if your not in pain from a gallbladder attack or inflammation. One reason I wanted to do a liver flush was because i wanted to have the metabolism I had when I was 25. Where I would not gain 5 pounds for smelling a choclate cake. : > I had what I believe was my first gall bladder attack about 14 years > ago. Guest guest
I don't know if my history will help you since everyone's story is different. Here goes... I had horrible attacks for nearly 10 years, starting in my very early 20's. I went to several different doctors over that span of time. All but the last doctor couldn't/didn't diagnose me properly. I didn't fit the " profile " . I was young and skinny. However, the last doctor did diagnose me. To make a long story short, he gave me a prescription that contained ox bile enzymes and a narcotic in one tablet. That made a wonderful difference in my pain level, but I had small children to care for and didn't want the narcotic. I found ox bile enzymes alone in the only health food store in town. That worked well for me. The plant based enzymes did not help at all. I also started eating yogurt with live cultures and no sugar. Eventually I found lecithin capsules. The ox bile, yogurt and lecithin did wonders for me. After going to this doctor several times with horrible, painful attacks he told me I could keep my gall bladder as long as I could stand the pain and didn't have a fever. I never had a fever with any of the attacks. Nausea and vomiting sometimes, though. I went home and thought about what he said. After a few months I realized how much I was missing out on in the children's lives due to my pain. Remember this had been going on for nearly 10 years. Sometimes horrible, sometimes mild attacks, but I never knew if I'd be well one day and at " death's door " the next. My abdomen would stay sore for 6 weeks after a bad attack. My gall bladder ruled my life. I talked about it with my husband and we agreed I would have it out at Christmas time when he would be able to help me more with the children after the surgery. After deciding that and getting the anxiety out of the way, my gall bladder calmed down so much that I didn't have it out that Christmas or any other Christmas. I mentally kept the option open, but never used it. I still have my gall bladder. At about age 32 my gall bladder pain stopped completely. Fast forward about 20 years. I was still going to the same doctor. He put me on Vioxx for arthritis. I took it for several weeks and then, Bam! out of nowhere I had a moderately severe gall bladder attack. Vioxx is/was noted for digestive side effects. I stopped taking Vioxx as soon as the pain hit. I immediately went to my doctor and had an ultrasound done. No gall stones were found. Fast forward another 4-5 years and I didn't have any more attacks until just a few weeks ago. I am on no medication whatsoever right now. I don't even take a multiple vitamin or calcium supplements. No aspirin, ibuprofen, no-nothing. I have started having mild episodes of gall bladder pain again. I've started taking lecithin and eating more yogurt again. Only now I can't find any in my small town that doesn't have some added sugar. I can't find any ox bile supplements either. I guess they don't make them anymore. I haven't searched the internet for them, though. I didn't even bother to go have another ultrasound done with my last attack. I know I do NOT want to have my gall bladder removed unless absolutely necessary. And someone is going to have to do a lot of talking to convince me to do it. I will do all I can to avoid surgery of any kind. I am in a wait and see mode right now about the surgery and even the flush. I've never taken epsom salt before. I have had mighty weird reactions to prescription drugs in the past and am leery of trying anything new. I am definitely going to try the ginger root tea that mentioned today. I don't know when I can find ginger root, but I will look for it and buy some when I see it. I had what I considered a LOT of gall bladder trouble for 10 years, but got by without having it removed. I can stand a lot of pain. Then went 20 years with no trouble and had a moderately bad attack, then another 5 or so more years with no trouble whatsoever before having several mild attacks. I'm not in a whole lot of agony this time around either. I did see my doctor recently. He advised that I have another ultrasound. I told him no gall stones were found the last time and I wasn't in enough pain to warrant that in my mind. He said I could wait to see what develops. He's in no hurry to do surgery. He did say that everyone or maybe he said nearly everyone has gall stones. It's just a matter of whether they get caught in the bile duct and cause pain or not. The internet hadn't been invented when I first had trouble, so when it hit this time I headed straight for and found this group and joined. I've learned a lot here. So, there's my story. I hope you can find something in it to help you. I'll be happy to help you any way I can, but I don't know much about the flushes like some of the folks on this list. I hope you feel better soon! Let us hear from you again. Guest guest
Hi, Don't have the surgery! You have a gallbladder for a reason! I know it may be hard to believe, but I think I'm in pain 24/7 bc of my gallbladder. I did the gallbladder flush and my pain was " zapped " away. It's great! I was 15 when they told me to have it removed and i was like no way! I'm now 21 and I am doing the gallbladder flush next week. It's worth a try. It sounds like you're pains are bad, so you may want to try GCG tincture before the flush. It's available at sensiblehealth.com. Expensive, but it's worth it. Guest guest
The page that Amy posted http://www.108pages.com/ helps to understand that you are what you eat and if your change your diet your body chemistry changes. That is why when people try something 1 time and do not stick with it they will go on searching and searching and never come to understand there body , nature and how we are designed to work. The Ox bile ensymes may have worked for a while but would more then likely have side effects that negate any good that it does. I commend you for getting off all the medication it is the biggest step to bringing your body chemistry the way it was when you were healthy. Most of my life I was a meat eater , process foods and coffee drinker I worked around harmful chemicals and I used flouride toothpaste , drank flouridated water , I have two mercury/ silver fillings in my mouth. The decisions I do are not just to stop symptoms from appearing or to remove symptoms. I did three liver flushes because I know that it will increase my bodys ability to digest food , flush out toxins out of my body and return my body to a better state of health. Regardless if it stops my big toe from hurting or not it is a step towards better health. Not getting metal fillings in my mouth and haveing the ones in my mouth removed is a step towards better health. Reducing my meat intake and stopping meat eating when I am sick is a step towards better health . Not using a particular shamppoo also is a step towards better health and reducing the toxins that I come accross in my environment. I like the 108 pages because when you do the 21-40 day orange fast it taught me how my body works and what is stopping my body from healing. If your at the mercy of doctors , health workers, pharmacists for your own health there is no empowerment, no understanding and usually depression when your health fails. But when you learn that your body is what heals itself and what you need to do to help it heal and what you need to abstain from in order to make it heal thats empowerment. First thing is when a Doctor tells you there is no cure for a disease what he is telling you is He does not have a cure for a disease (and perhaps orthodox medicine he represents) and he is not God to limit others from haveing a cure he just dont know about it or it might not be in his financial best intrests to know about the cure. Guest guest
Thanks Kathleen. Your story was of interest to me since it does explain how many have attacks spread far apart but nevertheless are also considered " symptomatic " as long as a single attack has been the case. I have no daily pain, no pain to even speak of except when I have an attack which doesn't happen but perhaps once a year or once every few years. I suppose its just the idea that at any time an attack could happen that is the problem. Unless there's some way to instantly get it under control, that feeling of dread that happens when you know what's coming as an attack begins is about the worst thing I can think of and almost enough to push me into doing the laproscopy. But I would like to try a few possible alternatives. I'm not sure at all about the flush and using lecithan seems to cause a soreness in my GB that concerns me. I'm macrobiotic so I rarely eat very fatty foods. It seems like its merely the luck of the draw whether you experience an attack or not - if a stone you have for some unknown reason drifts into the bile duct for awhile, you have an attack, and then just as suddenly drifts back out, the attack ends. Same thing may happen the next day or maybe not for another ten years, or maybe even never. Is that the case? I've been told I can bet on having another attack - but is that really a fact? Does everyone have more and more attacks after they have their first ? > > > I'm just wondering in the > > scheme of things, compared to the typical case, would I even be considered someone who > > has gall bladder problems? Of course, I have also heard of people that have one attack and have their gall bladder removed immediately. I've been told I can bet on having another attack - but is that really a fact? I don't think so at all. It is not a definite, for sure, take-it-to-the-bank kind of thing at all. Maybe you will, maybe you won't. Does > everyone have more and more attacks after they have their first ? No. For a little trivia for the day, I know a woman who had an ultrasound when she was 95 and they found a gall stone that nearly filled her entire gall bladder and yet she has never had a twinge of pain. They were looking for something else when they found that. The doctor advised letting it stay since she didn't have any symptoms. Two years later she still hasn't had any problems and still has her gall bladder. Kathleen
Guest guest
Yes Kathleen, much of what you describe could be my story as well .. which all means that many people opt for the surgery just to avoid reliving the attack, even though, they may never experience another attack again. This last attack I recently had - Halloween - had to be more from stress. I'm macrobiotic so my diet is basically fish, veggies and fruit - no bread, lots of soy. If I just had to worry about eating to avoid ever having an attack again, I wouldn't worry, but its not just about food. Its also about stress or so it seems. I was in a bad relationship with someone and had many close calls during that period. Once that relationship ended, I had no gall bladder symptoms to speak of for half dozen years. I'm still not prepared to do a flush and because of that I think I'd be so paranoid, that the stress of it would bring on an attack. That's my biggest worry . . . Guest guest
Are you this rude to small children on their first day of school, or perhaps to a patient before a surgery? Why would you poke fun at someone who is nervous about partaking in an event which they have never done before, that involves their health and bodies? Do you not have constructive advice for Kathleen or the other poster on how to reduce their anxiety? Jay Grosflam <jgrosflam@...> wrote: why such a large dose of anxiety? Guest guest
Jay, Is there any question that stress plays a part of bringing on a gall bladder attack? It certainly does in my case. I've heard and read enough on the negative side about flushing with olive oil to be plenty anxious about it. The very last thing I want to do is help bring on an attack. Sure, I'd like all of this to be behind me, but right now I'm just fine. I have no pain, no problems do I really want to be fooling with things? Perhaps it'll be 10 years before I have another attack or maybe I'll never have another attack. Point is, just like some people are symptomatic while others aren't although both sides may hactually have stones - some may benefit from a flush while others may make matters worse. It seems once again that the flush like everything else connected to the gall bladder is a matter of luck ... some will be lucky while others may not and I for one, at least for now, need to read more, learn more, feel more comfortable about going down that road. > > > I'm still not prepared to do a flush and because of that I think I'd > > be so paranoid, that the stress of it would bring on an attack. Guest guest
Hey, I wouldn't stress out too much about it......that being said, it took me a solid year to muster up the courage to do my first flush. I've done about 6 since my first and each time I feel better and better. It's really not that big of a deal, however, drinking the ES and olive oil does get harder and harder for me each time I do a flush. Go figure. Guest guest
I actually have a difficult time correlating stress and gbladder issues. You can not go by anecdotes. You have to keep emotions out of this equation. bleecker2000 <stevel3474@...> wrote: Jay, Is there any question that stress plays a part of bringing on a gall bladder attack?
