Guest guest
Kathleen, I'm so glad you posted that info about " referred pain " , this happend to me several years ago. The incident that started the pain was I slammed the door on my left thumb, (this was my husband's Ford truck, big doors)...... it hurt and was sore for a few weeks then I thought I was healed up and over it. A few months later, I noticed my elbow was very painful to bend and I couldn't remember hurting it, I went to my chiropractor at the time, in Salt Lake City, Utah. (wish I still there to go to him) he did the kinesiology mucle testing test on me and he said not even knowing I had slammed the car door on my thumb, that my elbow was fine the pain was coming from my thumb! He said I was having referred pain from the thumb and hand area, althought at the time I was having no pain from that area. He adjusted my thumb and hand...........and the soreness and pain was gone almost immediately in my elbow! So, I said all of this say, you can be hurting in one place but the cause of the pain can be from another place. Dee
Guest guest
Hi Dee (by the way, I'm just up in Park City although I get the impression you're no longer in SLC. Anyway, I'm a massage therapist and my clients experience referral pain all the time. I can work a trigger point up in the scapular area and they'll feel it all the way to the heel, or in on their forehead. That happens all the time. Generally, however (except for the rare person who has congenital issues) the liver is on the right side along with the gallbladder and the spleen is on the left side of the body. Guest guest
Hey Lori, I live in Texas now, but I enjoyed living in Utah, and we went up to Park City one weekend..it's beautiful up there. In reference to the left side and right side I " m sure it would be a rare case to find someone with organs on the left side of the body that are supposed to be on the right. However during my own personal experience with pain related to GB stones I did experience pain on the left side as much as I did the right. I know from the sonogram where my GB is located and it is on the right side, but I did have pain on the left. Dee
