Guest guest
After my last iodine loading test showed an NIS problem and I had noticed fatigue in the afternoons, I decided to get some lab work done. Here are the results. Normal ranges for the labs are in parentheses. Below each test I outline what my doctor has recommended. I have a followup appointment February 28th. Cortisol--saliva: 7AM 7.0 (7.0-10.0) 11AM 2.2 (3.0-6.0) 5PM 0.9 (2.0-4.0) 11:30PM 2.2 (less than 1.5) Serotonin 83.9 (150-200) Epinephrine 4.3 (8-12) Norepinephrine 23.1 (35-50) Histamine 27.0 (10-20) All other neuro results are normal. My doctor has prescribed AdrexSEL (1 before breakfast and 2 before noon), ZEN (3/day, before each meal), 5-HTP, 100mg (2 at bedtime). [AdrexSEL is an adrenal extract (220mg per capsule) with added Vit.C, E, B6, and minerals. ZEN is 550mg of GABA and 200mg of L-theanine. 5- HTP is for serotonin deficiency.] Thyroid--serum TSH 4.249 (0.35-5.50) Free T3 3.6 (2.3-4.2) Free T4 1.14 (0.61-1.76) Doctor has prescribed L-tyrosine, 500mg, 2 every morning before breakfast Also, hemoglobin was high at 15.2 (11.5-15.0). I requested a ferritin level but the lab (Lab Corp) didn't do it, nor did they do the D3 the doc requested. I guess since the doctor didn't put a diagnosis on the scrip, without it some labs won't do ferritin or D3 if the insurance is paying all of it like mine is. You have to show some sign of deficiency. I take 50mg of Iodoral per day, divided in two doses. Any observations would be appreciated. BTW, my doctor is Chiedu J. Nchekwube, MD, located in Merrillville, IN. I like him very much; he gives every patient all the time with him that they need. If you want to add him to the list, great, though he's just starting to learn about iodine (through me). Guest guest
The thing that stands out to me is your low serotonin levels. Those can be tied to low Vit D levels. I would make work of getting that checked. You may want to add the B2/B3 protocol too that will help your ATP (see my website www.naturalthyroidchoices.com for more info on thyroid nutrients). Otherwise your protocol looks good. Guest guest
Thanks, ., I've added 100mg x 2 of B2 and 500mg x 2 of B3 daily, per Dr. Flechas (and your site). The L-5-HTP is supposed to help the low serotonin, plus I take 2 tsp. of cod liver oil every day, which is 800 IUs. The doctor recommended 4000 IUs of D3; what do you think?
