Guest guest
Hi folks, I am confused and hope somebody can enlighten me. My question is - how does Keto7 DHEA actually help adrenal insufficiency? I have read the explanations in Dr. P's book about DHEA and Keto7 as well as reading a lot about it on the net. I do understand that Keto7 is a naturally occurring precursor in the body that achieves its results by lowering induced cortisol levels..... and this is where my brain gets in a twist. If Keto7 lowers cortisol levels, how does it help too heal the cortisol depleted adrenal function? Please don't get me wrong - If Dr. P says that DHEA will help, I have no doubt that this is so .... I just can't get my brain to understand the process. Thing is - I am currently taking 25 mg Keto7 daily and I get the feeling that it does benefit me. But feeling is subjective. I may get a placebo effect and I might lower my already low cortisol levels further by taking it. My morning cortisol blood levels (9am) have recently been tested and the figure came to 353 - but despite my request, the endo has not given me the norm range. Does anybody know where this figure stands in the usually applied norm ranges? There is no doubt that I suffer from adrenal fatigue and my salivary adrenal stress profile a year ago showed that either my adrenals have adapted to cope with high stress OR due to very long-standing stressors my adrenal hormone levels are "dropping through" normal ranges on the way to depleted levels every time I get stressed. Judging by how I feel, I strongly suspect the latter. My cortisol appears high-normal early on (7-8 am), then it's rapidly gone by 12 noon, then high again at 4-5 pm and gone by midnight .... which may sound "normal", but it's the roller coaster effect of the sudden depletion whenever I get stressed by something - be it physical or emotional exertion - that is making me ill. This sudden 'battery draining' and the accompanying sweats and other physical sensations are so debilitating. I have been suffering from this for over 10 years now and although I have learned to cope, it is wearing me down. Am I correct in assuming that Keto7 appears to be helping me because it is regulating the rate at which my cortisol levels are dropping when I get stressed??? - or have I totally got the wrong end of the stick? I'm on 100 mcg Levothyroxine since Feb. this year, btw, and I tolerate it well ... I do feel better all round, but many of my issues are still present...still low temps, positive Raglan's test (drop of 20 points systolic), zooming pupils under light and horrible intestinal upsets being the worst. - Wish I could change to Armour with the blessing of my GP and Endo, but they won't hear of it.
