Guest guest
Apologies if someone answered my query and I missed it but in my recent rant (entitled Just Typical) I asked if it was possible for auto immune thyroiditis to reverse - or at least the auto immune part of it as I've got very confusing (and conflicting) info from my consultant. Below is a part of said tirade with the only test results I've managed to extract from anyone. This is what the consultant sent this Friday (all of it!!) and below it said extract from first set of test results (back in March 07):"Just a short note to let you know that your recent further blood tests have been normal with a normal blood count, ESR (15) and autoimmune screen. I will write again once we have your CT scan result." etc etc."The initial result from test on 13/4/07 - and I quote was :-"Thyroid autoantibody level - 279.00 iu/mL (0.00 - 50.00) - Consistent with autoimmune thyroid disease. Associated with increased risk of other organ specific autoimmune diseases (e.g. pernicious anemia, s disease)." Plasma TSH level 5.440 (0.400 - 4.000). There were other results but I don't have any current ones to compare them with.Curiously he told me at recent appointment to keep taking the thyroxine!!I think I'm going to start learning the ancient art of torture as I believe its the only way I'm ever going to get any comprehensible information out of the NHS!! That or threaten them with the 'washing machine repair man technique' = not leave the room until they tell me what they're going to do to fix me!Cheers
