Never mind that I was still experiencing syptoms (LOTS of symptoms) of hypothyroidism, and something neither of them noticed, but the endocrinologist did right away, is that even though my TSH was normal (3.36 - just about in the middle of normal) my thyroid gland was also slightly enlarged. It was really crazy. I found my endocrinologist from following links from that article too. And he is absolutely wonderful. I can't begin to stress how much better I feel, both physically and mentally since he put me on the T3 supplement, and my TSH dropped to below 1 (I think .5 is the lower limit of normal by my lab.) I will never let it get above a 2 again - that is when I noticed I was feeling lousy, and he said most women feel better if their TSH is kept under 2. He could have just increased my dose of the T4 supplement, and maybe that would have helped. He debated on which to do, then decided to give the T3 a try. But since I tried the T3, in addition to the T4, NO ONE is taking my T3 away from me, lol! And it's just a tiny little dose too, so it's crazy how much better I feel. Maybe if you print that out for your doctor he will read it and do something, but don't count on it. My PCP hadn't even heard of Cytomel before, and he really is confused that I need this T3 supplement. On the other hand, he knows more about HCV than any other PCP I've had, so I guess I'll keep him, lol. Really, he is probably the best PCP I've ever had. I guess we can't expect any one doctor to be an expert on everything! Claudine __________________________________________________

Fatigue (can be extreme), lethargy, joint and muscle pain, mood swings, irritability, memory problems, easily confused, restless, hair dry and brittle or falling out easily, skin dry, dry eyes, constipation, too hot, too cold, loss of libido, weight gain, difficulty swallowing...... the list is huge. Any of this sound familiar???? Sure seems like a lot of women with HCV have hypothyroidism. __________________________________________________
Guest guest
All sounds familiar to me....and I'm not liking it. When my thyroid first blew out, I blamed everything on treatment. When I couldn't swallow my vitamins and herbs any more I went to the doctor...it was hard gulping down 35 pills crushed in yogurt <g> At that time my count was 98. Went on synthroid and a month later it was 110. Doc said he'd never seen a count get that high and did another test to make sure it hadn't been an error on the labs part. But, nope it was 110. It's been 6 months and my count is at 5...which he keeps telling me is in the normal range. I asked him to push my synthroid up a little because I'm still not right and he brought it up to .15mg. It's time for another test and I'm looking for research papers on T3 and hypothyroid to take in to him to see if he'll give me a script. If not then I'll have to find an endocrinologist. Didn't know some of the things you mentioned were thyroid symptoms but now I understand a lot of the things that are going on with me...it's my blasted thyroid. For such a little thing (and mine probably resembles a dried up raisin), it sure is a powerful organ! claudine intexas wrote: > > --- AndromedaGurl <andromedagurl@...> wrote: > it does > > make ya feel icky. > > Not just icky either! > > Fatigue (can be extreme), lethargy, joint and muscle > pain, mood swings, irritability, memory problems, > easily confused, restless, hair dry and brittle or > falling out easily, skin dry, dry eyes, constipation, > too hot, too cold, loss of libido, weight gain, > difficulty swallowing...... the list is huge. He's a D.O. gynecologist and practices near Pensacola, FL. He's good and treats thyroid by symptoms as well as labs and is great for hormone probs.
