I am a bit taken back by your description of Armour being in a capsule. Perhaps this was a mistake. I have never seen or heard of Armour being delivered in a capsule. It is in pill form to my understanding. Please let us know if in fact you are taking Armour, or what this is. Thank you, Abbe __________________________________________________

This quote is in relation to T4 only medication, there's no reason it wouldn't apply to Armour also - http://rxlist.com/cgi/generic/levothy_ad.htm Inadequate doses of levothyroxine sodium may produce or fail to resolve symptoms of hypothyroidism. *************** So, too low a dose can actually produce symptoms you didn't have before. That includes high pulse rate, as Armour does not always raise it. Sometimes it makes it go down. Also, the dizziness and fainting sound more like an adrenal problem, something quite common in hypothyroidism that doctors fail to look at. Low doses of cortisol / hydrocortisone (5 mg or less 4 times daily) is advocated by Jeffries who wrote " Safe Uses of Cortisol " . Hydrocortisone will lower the pulse rate if adrenals are causing the problem. There is such a thing as adrenal crises which involves nausea along with the dizzines and weakness. http://health.allrefer.com/health/acute-adrenal-crisis-info.html Acute adrenal crisis is a medical emergency caused by a lack of cortisol. Patients may experience lightheadedness or dizziness, weakness, sweating, abdominal pain, nausea and vomiting, or even loss of consciousness. Adrenal crisis occurs if the adrenal gland is deteriorating ('s disease, primary adrenal insufficiency), if there is pituitary gland injury (secondary adrenal insufficiency), or adrenal insufficiency is not adequately treated. Risk factors for adrenal crisis include physical stress such as infection, trauma or surgery, adrenal gland or pituitary gland injury, and premature termination of treatment with steroids such as prednisone or hydrocortisone. ******************** Your symptoms really don't sound like thyroid overdose. They sound more like adrenal problems. As far as iodine causing the thyroid to need less thyroid hormone, if that was the case it's more likely the thyroid would just cut back production, as it can do that. Low doses of thyroid hormone works for a few patients, but not the majority and you're on a miniscule dose not likely to be helping you much. >From: Abbe <abbe_online@...> >I am a bit taken back by your description of Armour >being in a capsule. Yes, I think both Synthroid (T4) and Armour are in pill form. Usually it's compounded thyroid medication that's in capsules, but there's no real reason to compound Armour except to increase the price. Guest guest
Hi, I am in Australia and my naturopath made up the Armour Thyroid in 30 mg capsules. Someone told me that is equal to half a grain so that is not very much and sounds like I do need more. I did the iodine patch test yesterday and lasted nearly 24 hours on 25mg of Iodoral so that seems to be the right dose. Now I need to get the Armour Thyroid right. My only symptoms was the high pulse rate. Yesterday afternoon I came up my stairs, which I normally do with a spring in my step, very slowly and my pulse rate was 132. I cant usually get it that high with 20 minutes exercise!! I had absolutely no other symptoms, no nausea, pain, or anything else except dizziness and high pulse especially on exertion. Thanks Toni ps What does a grain of armour look like? On 7 New Idea: Catch up on all the latest celebrity gossip

Sometimes when you start thyroid treatment, in the beginning your pulse rate will go way up on exertion, and it doesn't take much to be considered exertion. Were your adrenals checked in any way? There are no perfect tests for adrenals, saliva tests are probably the best, but low cortisol is quite common with low thyroid. Low cortisol can cause an escalated resting pulse rate. > ps What does a grain of armour look like? IT looks like a white pill with the letter A on it. Guest guest
being undertreated can stress your adrenals. I don't think you can figure out dose of Iodoral by the patch test. You might actually benefit from 50mg Iodoral for a period of time, and then adding Armour as needed. 50mg Iodoral/day is good for most peeps according to the product insert. Guest guest
What kind of Thyroid hormone does it have in it? Is it from pig or other animal thyroid, or is it synthetic like Synthroid but just has no fillers? Thanks --- maribob7 <rvogenberger@...> wrote: > No,not Forrest.
