Guest guest
Hi everyone! I don’t post as often as I used to, but thought I’d give an update. My last fill was about 4 months ago and I haven’t lost any weight since about 6 months ago which was the fill before last. I had gotten pregnant (with an IUD) in October so I thought the hormones were why I was having problems with losing. I was also having foul smelling burps and trouble eating certain solids (thought I wasn’t chewing enough or just found a new problem food) and occasionally needed to regurgitate and some times had reflux at night that I thought was just maybe from eating too soon before bed. I’ve posted about all of this before. So I recently had an upper GI done in prep for another fill (my doc does UGIs when you reach the 9cc level with a VG band). The films weren’t very good so they have to be repeated, but the report from the radiologist said that I was VERY tight. I’m now waiting to have the second UGI approved to be done at no charge since they didn’t do the first one right, but my NP has removed 3ccs of fluid from my band to help rest my esophagus and pouch. She prescribed me Protonix as well for the reflux and to help with any inflammation I might have. The day after the fluid was removed I had horrible gas and diarrhea which I attribute to the rotten food that was sitting in my pouch (cause of the foul smelling burps) passing through my GI system. That has resolved itself. The foul smelling burps are GONE too. Hallelujah because those were embarrassing. They smelled like sulfur (yes, like a rotten fart! hehe). I have gained 3 pounds in a week, but I am not eating too much. I can eat about 4 oz of solid protein and a cup of veggies and be full. I am thinking maybe my body is just adjusting to getting good nutrition again (as opposed to soft foods, rotting food and regurgitation). Any thoughts?
