Guest guest
Its a great article, Im so pleased too! The point i want to make is that this somatoform disorder we all have funnily enough only responds to the placebo effect of a drug when its thyroxine! The placebo effect doesnt work if it antidepressants, HRT, anti-inflammatories etc etc! Funny that isnt it!!! Gill
Guest guest
Good point Gill. I would love to hear his answer to that question. What about the one that thyroxine can hide hidden conditions like cancer and liver disease. As Dr.Skinner gets all the patients who have been told there is NOTHING wrong with them. What about people who are hypothyroid and have been taking thyroxine for years. Would it hide those conditions for them. I think that is just scare mongering resorted to when one doesn't have a 'fact' to stand on. Lilian Its a great article, Im so pleased too! Guest guest
I've been keeping tabs on the comments too, its probably that the site can't keep up with the amount of comments the same as the phone lines. This is absolutely fabulous news though!!

Guest guest
Ah, thanks. well thats basically what my diabetologist (also the local endo specialist) said to me when i said i was feeling better on meds.'well you will, but then again so do patients taking placebos' And yes it is bloody arrogant, do they really think that so many people have some sort of mental illness that requires them to imagine severe symptoms which have such a dreadful impact on their quality of life. Madness! Hi - he means its all in our heads, we're all head cases basically! Not that he's arrogant or anything!! Guest guest
I wonder how they would feel it they had a year like some of the years we've had! But most of the endos and GPs are men arent they - Mine doesnt have that excuse as they are both women in their 40s so I would have expected them to have a better understanding when its a disease that mainly affects women! Her aunt and sisters all suffer similar fatigue symptoms and her poor daughter who has been so ill that she has barely been able to get out of bed well I don't want to go into details but lets just say the treatment she has been offered has culminated in an awful downward spiral. I just wish I'd found this group years ago and been able to direct them here AOL's new homepage has launched. Take a tour now.

Guest guest
I think that probably the answer is - the majority. Nobody would be here on these forums if they had received all the care, attention, diagnosis and treatment within the NHS. Quite simply, the NHS is NOT making people with hypothyroidism well - because they don't know how to. I hope the Mail article will make them re-think what they are doiong. luv - Sheila Dear " somatoform disorder " many of these doctors take the view that thyroid patients and others with boarderline endochrin conditions are either MI or PDMI = mentally illPD = personality disorderOne wonders how many of our members here have been sent packing from their GP's with a prescription for SSRI (antidepressants) ? .. Guest guest
Hi phine There have only been 4 responses that have been published. We think that whatever mechanism they have for comments getting through must have become jammed, because I KNOW there have been tons of responses from all the forums and surely from other readers. I will phone the Daily Mail today to see what has happened. Luv - Sheila Dear Sheila, i sent in my story used up all the letters and told that the dose of thyroxine i am on has made no difference and thats after 20years and that the doctors do not listen only go by blood test i am waiting to see if they publish it.It was rather long (very rare smile)keep up the good work we are all proud of youphine from Bonnie galeforce wet Scotland No virus found in this incoming message.Checked by AVG Free Edition.
