Guest guest
I don't know if it's related to the thyroid or not, but I take a long time to fall asleep also. I'd always thought it might but was never sure. As for age and the health problems related to this, it's just part of the territory. I was diagnosed about 10, most likely that's when it started also since that's when I stopped growing. At least I hit the 5 foot mark before growth stopped. LOL.

MLJ

Guest guest
Hi Kim,
I too sometimes in the past have had trouble staying asleep, I keep waking in the middle of the night sometimes as much as 5 times, and I don't get anywhere near the amount of sleep I used to.
I have read somewhere that if you find yourself not going to sleep in about 1/2 hour to get up and read or watch some tv or something very relaxing and then after an 1/2 hour to try going to sleep again, keep repeating this until you go to sleep, but staying in bed awake will not work.
I am not sure why this is, but it works good luck!
I too have been having some problems with bowels lately, I have been very constipated, I know this is a problem with thyroid patients but I have been having this more and more,I have now asked my doctor to refer me to an endocrinoligst, hopefully she will refer me and I can finally releive some symptoms I have had for a very long time.
Have you started Hopkins yet?
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!
Let me know if the sleeping gets better.
Sunflower
