Hi,

I am a new member and I'm a 50 year old woman.

I had my thyroid removed in December and just found out from

that iodine deficiency could have been an issue for me. I have been

dealing with symptomatic uterine fibroids for a year and a half.

I am looking at treatment options thru my Kaiser health plan.

Has anyone been dealing with this combination of issues?

Meanwhile, I am tryign to wrap my head around this whole iodine

deficiency idea. I find it hard to believe, as it is supposedly in the

salt, that I have such a deficiency!

Thanks for any input!

hi, there! i'm sandi. yes, steph's right, fortunately for us! most folk with thyroid disease are iodine deficient. i was put on synthetic thyroid (T4) replacement 30 years ago after a thyroidectomy and RAI. if i had begun taking natural thyroid hormone replacement (which WAS available then and had been for over 100 years at that point) and supported my body with iodine supplements (as well as any adrenal and hormone supports which were necessary), i probably would not be on this site now. if you'd like my story, i'll send it to your personal email. i'm now 55, had a large fibroid tumor and a complete hysterectomy in 2005, am just coming of of the last of 15 years doing Zoloft (which also would have been unnecessary!) please, READ, READ, READ and study what we offer you, so that your choices will be made by you because you KNOW they're the right choices for you! i'm not sure what steph

offered you as websites but here are a couple - www.iodine4health.com , www.stopthethyroidmadness.com and steph's site www.naturalthyroidchoices.com. i'm proud of you, do question and learn lots, we're supposed to have GOBS OF WISDOM at our ages!!! of course, it's said that us 50 year old's are definitely like more like 40 year old's these days!!! sincerely, and caring, sandi sfrosalie <sfrosalie@...> wrote: Hi,I am a new member and I'm a 50 year old woman.I had my thyroid removed in December and just found out from that iodine deficiency could have been an issue for me.
