Guest guest
Hello Debbie, and welcome to TPA-UK where I hope you get all the help and support you need. Being hypothyroid is a problem for those needing to lose weight - it is because your metabolism is so low and you are unable to burn off calories, unlike 'normal' people, so you really need to be on the right medication and the right dose to get your metabolism working more normally. If you go to our website www.tpa-uk.org.uk and click on 'Hypothyroidism' in the main menu, and then click on 'Supplements and Nutrition' in the drop down Menu, you can find out about Foods that are good for you and foods that are not. Read also particularly about what supplements you should take. How long have you been on 100 mcgs and have you any recent blood test results. How are you feeling in general, apart from frustration at your not being able to lose weight? Guest guest
Hi Debbie, This problem is not uncommon as most thyroid patients are undermedicated and the whole hormone system is connected so if one part is out then the rest gets affected. There are some happy stories, but I ended with a hysterectomy as I was bleeding so much ( also irregularly). The same applies to weight loss not enough meds- and it is impossible to lose weight. Some folk find a low carb diet suits best.
