Guest guest
Hi Were you ever able to tell how much of your brain fog was due to lack of T3 and how much due to lack of estrogen? I ask because my brain fog is getting really unbearable and because the possibility of me trying T3 again is a long way off, I'm thinking of trying estrogel. Will that mess things up altogether? Thanks x
Guest guest
Hi hon I am post menopausal and I aren't sure what I am short of. I say this because I am big and they say that big women tend to hold onto estrogen in the fat cells. My doc is willing to give me hrt but as you say I am worried about messing things up even more. He doesn't test for individual female hormones so I cannot supplement one without knowing the status of the other. I will say the hrt he gave me in the past didn't do me any good. I tried progesterone natural cream which set me off bleeding. So I am like you sorry, no idea. Maybe your doctor will test your levels? lotsa luv Dawnx

That's how I found out about my thyroid, while I was trying to find solutions after my hysterectomy. So I've come full circle. I was trying to leave sex hormones alone til I'd sorted out my adrenals and thryoid, thinking that was the correct order in which to do things, but that's taken so much longer than expected that meanwhile my brain has got lost somewhere and I'm finding it really difficult. Before I went off on the thyroid tangent, my GP felt that some estrogel would help but I stalled her while I saw Dr P. He assured me some T3 would take away the brain fog and I had high hopes but I reacted badly to it and had to come off. I'm so desperate to be able to think straight and work things out and remember what I read or said or did literally ten seconds ago. Thinking and writing etc are such hard work now. It's ridiculous. To complicate matters, I've had sex hormone tests but the saliva ones contradict the blood ones and I don't know which to go with! I've got progesterone on order and have a doctor's appointment to get some estrogel. But I'm still not sure it's the right thing to do but just feel I can't put up with no brain any longer! Is progesterone alone supposed to help the brain? Thanks again Dawn, love all your posts BTW, you always maintain a sense of humour which is marvellous considering your circumstances. x
Guest guest
Oh thanks x On the progesterone, well, here are things I have been told. One by Dr Rind, when looking at hormones, he says oh blimey wish I could rememeber properly. He has an old Weston Price seminar on his site, it is very good on female hormones, it tells you basicly its like a seesaw between estrogen and progesterone, which I suppose we realised, but it is a good pdf enjoy. http://www.drrind.com/forms/wp_metabolic_seminar.pdf I think those diagrams of what hormone is a precurser to others are really helpful. I believe there is one of those on thyoid-uk? I believe progesterone can be relaxing but it made me start bleeding again and I am post menopausal, gave me terrible period pains. However someone somewhere (blimey I fell like I am in a land far away) said I might need to start on a really tiny dose and build up, and as that goes up the estrogen dominance should come down. So it is a thought on which I shall ponder. A little test from the GP wouldn't hurt either grr Good luck luv Dawnx
