Guest guest
Hi Shelagh and Everyone Have been reading a lot on Adrenals and have had advice in the past from the site. Now I am ready to start looking at the problems my adrenals have been causing with my thyroxine uptake. After eight months now on thyroxine (I will be posing shortly photos on the files of before during and almost after still have a long way to go, although I have lost 4 stone now), I am feeling a lot better most of the time. But and this is the problem, occasionally they do not seem to work as well. I put my dose up to 150 micrograms and my doctor was not happy with this as she said that 100 was a large dose! I did not think that the case from reading the site. The 150 made me feel a bit better and I shall carry on taking that amount regardless even if I have to buy it off the net to supplement my prescription! I don’t feel hyper at all no racing pulse or anything but when I switch down again I feel tired shivery and emotional. Now to the adrenals †" I am wondering if my adrenals need some support as I have been undiagnosed hypo for several years because of my normal readings of TSH. It seem that if my TSH goes above 1 I start to feel hypo. It seems that when I get stressed have a bad weekend my symptoms come back for a short while and I am rushing to the doctor for antidepresants and I feel tired and get the cold shivers again also a bad/upset stomach. I cannot afford at the moment to have the spit tests done but I could afford to buy some more vitamins etc that would help. Does anyone know the best things I could take? I would be grateful for any advice. If I am going to buy something I want it to be something recommended from you lot as you are so knowledgeable. My doctor would not investigate the problem because she said that the treatment was a type of steroids and I had been on them for my asthma for years but not in the last year since I started the thyroxine and she wants to keep me off steroids. I must admit I did not like taking steroids all those years on and off but they helped with my breathing as it was very very bad. Now of course the thyroxine, and treatment for the anemias (plural as I had two) I had has almost cured that. Wierd what an underactive thyroid can do isnt it.
