Guest guest
Sounds like you are ready for a second fill. I assume you have a VG from your first fill being 4cc. That is nothing and it's what I got in my VG as a first fill. Do not be discouraged. You won't have good restriction until you have a couple more fills. You've done well so far. 10 pounds in 2 months is in band guidelines of 1-2 pounds per week. Hello,So, I've been banded since Feb 4 2008 and I have only lost 10 lbs since my banding. I am discouraged. I had one fill April 4th. I do feel some restriction but not a lot. I have joined a gym and am exercising quite a bit. Did anyone else have this problem? Not really losing in the beginning? BTW... I have 4 cc's in my band. Before my banding I lost 50 pounds just with diet and exercise but now I don't see the pounds " melting " off like I wish they would. banded at 281 currently 270 goal 165.Thanks, Jen.---------------------------------Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Mobile. Meanwhile work on developing the right habits. Even if you had a proper fill all along, you've lost ten pounds in thirteen weeks, which is just about in the " normal range " of one to two pounds a week. > I have joined a gym and am > exercising quite a bit. Well, if wishes were horses beggars would ride, and if wishes were magic diet pills, we wouldn't need a band. We'd just take the little pill and magically look just like all those sexy movie stars. Yeah, right. You're already well on the way, especially since you lost a bunch before the band. Tell us more. Age, weight, goal, etc, etc. That will help. Joining the gym is good, but that won't in and of itself make you lose weight. It will help get you in better shape and build muscle, and that's good since muscle burns more calories than fat, and you'll feel better too. dan -- " It's OK to be a little broken, everybody's broken in this life " Jon Bon Jovi Dan Lester, Boise, Idaho, USA www.mylapband.tk Banded 4/27/03, Dr. Ortiz, Tijuana Started at 355, at goal in the 210-220 range for almost 4 years Ultimate goal of 195 Tummytuck in Boise and SmartLipo in Tijuana
Guest guest
Hey Dan, My name is Jen and I live in a small town in Vermont. I'm 28 years old and recently divorced. I have had weight issues since grade school. When I was 18 and living on my own (with roomates and friends) I was bulimic. I lost 100 pounds in like 6 months. I was bulimic for about 3 years and then I would have binge and purge moments for years after that. ( I haven't told many people but I guess this is a forum for people who have had weight issues so I feel somewhat comfortable telling my story.) I over came the " purging " part of my disorder but I still would binge eat. Over the years I gained back the 100 pounds plus a bunch more. I started seeing my lap band doctor in March of 07 at that time I weighted 328 pounds. I followed the weight watchers diet and exercised and on the day of my surgery Feb 4, 2007 I weighed 281. I have had 1 fill with 4cc's April 4 and today I weigh 270. I feel like one of my food issues now Is the " low fat " junk food. I buy the 100 calorie snacks and I eat too many of them. I really need to work on the compulsive part of my eating. Does anyone else have that issue? I can go days eating 1200 calories and working out and then a day comes and I binge eat. That is one of the reasons that I opted for the band surgery I was hoping that I would feel full before I consumed astronomical amounts of food. Anyway, that Is my story and why I have had the band surgery. My long term goal is 165 pounds. That is a good weight for me and my body type. But my short term goal is 220. I figure I will take steps making new goals along the way. I really like this group. It is very nice to be able to ask questions to people who have the same surgery and are going through similar things. I hope I didn't bore you with too much info!! Thanks, now I'm off to the gym!!! Guest guest
Hi, ! The average loss with the band is 1-2 # a week, and this usually does not begin until you have several monthly fills and are at a good fill level. You sounds as if you have the larger VG band or the larger of the new AP bands, and both of these can need even more fills than the usual 3-5 monthly ones to get to a good level. Still, we can lose well even before a good fill, with better eating habits and better exercise that we must start anyway. The formula for good loss is exactly the same before and after banding - eat fewer calories than you need and burn some extra off every day with better activity and exercise, and you'll lose. Don't, and you won't lose, with or without the band. The band, when it is at a good fill level, will just make it easier to be physically satisfied (not FULL) with those fewer calories. being emotionlly satisfied is a while other issue, and takes very hard work in itself. The band is only a part of the solution - we have to provide a lot of good effort ourselves too. Go monthly for more fill, or less fill when needed, until you are " just right " - and know the definition of " just right " . It is not being able to eat only afew bites per meal. That gets people in trouble very quickly. Sandy r > > Hello, > So, I've been banded since Feb 4 2008 and I have only lost 10 lbs since my banding. I am discouraged. I had one fill April 4th.
