Guest guest
Hi , Test results are within range, but the TSH is far higher than it probably should be. USA range 0.3 to 3.0 German Range 0.2 to.2.5 The free T's are not near the top of the range so again there could be room for improvement. I don't think you will get anywhere with NHS with these results, especially as you don't have autoimmune antibodies- so no Hashimoto's. I'm most concerned about your poor eye. If it IS sinus have you got antibiotics, have your tried a decongestant like Sudafed? I think that you'll have to try everything to get there by a process of elimination. Tsh 3.36 lab range 0.27 - 4.2 free t4 17.7 lab range 12.0 - 22.0 Free trilodothryoinine level 4.9 lab range 3.9 - 6.8 Thryoid peroxidase antibody level 7 lab range <34 As regards to my eye, Saturday I was told it was cluster headaches, yet today, (the receptionist took one look of me and pushed me in) I was told its sinus. Guest guest
Well, let's put it this way , if you lived in the USA or in Germany, you would be immediately given a trial of thyroxine as your TSH is above the top of their reference ranges. In Germany, the top of their TSH reference range is 2.5 and in the US, it is 3.3. Your FT4 is high considering you are not on any thyroxine and your Free T3 is low, which means, to me, that although you are secreting thyroxine, it is not being converted to the T3 and it is the T3 that makes every cell in your body function normally. Don't let your GP give you a "talking down to" - insist that you need a referral to an endocrinologist for a second opinion. PLEASE take somebody with you and ask for 'evidence' that it is definitely a sinus problem as your GP is not a specialist. Doctors would much rather you went for your appointment on your own. They don't like having others listening in, as it were. Personally, I think it keeps them on their toes. Have you had a word with your Practice Manager and told him/her you are very unhappy with the way you have been treated (or not treated)?. luv - Sheila These are my blood test resuits from last week, The dr who I saw last week has put the following completely normal! Guest guest
- can you pop into a Boots Opticians and ask them to have a look at your eye to make sure there is no infection. THEY should be able to tell you what the problem is as they have the necessary equipment to look deep into your eyes. Don't wait any longer. Give them a bell and ask for an urgent appointment. Guest guest
Hi Jazzie, Now why wouldn't antibiotics work if it is an infection? I used to get sinus infections every time I had a cold and was always prescribed amoxicillin which worked perfectly. Did the Sudafed help, or was it completely ineffectual? It does sound like it may be a blocked tear duct as the pain centres there, but pain can sometimes be referred away from the exact site of the problem. Guest guest
I went back again to the Dr's yesterday and saw another one, she gave me antibiotics and eye drops. Mmmmm Shes a bit miffed that the pain in my eye isn't there ALL the time and that I don't have any pain when I lean forward. Hoping that these work I hate feeling like this two weeks on and still feel crap. Not eating much lost 6 pounds in weight, but thats because my mouth feels so dry and that the stuff in the back on my throats not making me want to eat. The eye feels a little less swollen today so fingers crossed it is sinus and nothing worse. > > Hi Jazzie, > > Now why wouldn't antibiotics work if it is an infection?
