Guest guest
Just to round things off I figure I should give everyone the end of the story of my tests. I went to the doc for tests on my sex hormones, actually those were never done but that's a whole other story. The doctor decided to test TSH, understandable as I still have some symptoms but at that point was considerably improved on my state before I began self treatment. I elected not to tell my doc that I was self treating and at that time I was criticised for doing so. I ended up having the tests 3 times and was off my meds for a total of 2 and 1/2 months. I did actually completely revert back to where I had been before starting treatment. All paranoia, exhaustion, pain and confusion returned so it wasn't pleasant and at times I felt it wasn't worth it and that people here who said just that were right. I now feel that for me it was the right thing to do but not for the reasons I had at the time. Things I've learned: I now know without a shadow of a doubt that I am hypothyroid despite many normal test results disputing that fact. I have re-visited the terrible place that is hypoT and I WILL NOT EVER go without my meds again for anyone, so my doctor will have to at some point be told and I will face the consequences. I realised during the course of the 2.5 months that I may do well on considerably less thyroid suppliments, so something in my system has adjusted over the many months that I had been taking T3. Being off my meds gave me the nudge I needed to try going back on armour and so far so good. I'm at 1 and 1/4 grains and temps are much better than they were the first time around. The results of those tests? Nothing abnormal of course, lol. TSH 3.13 T4 (the labs didn't do T3) 7.6 (7.5 - 21.1) So I know without a shadow of a doubt that I make very little T4 even when my TSH is at quite a respectable level. I always suspected that this was the case but things were complicated by adrenal fatigue. This time my adrenals were well supported so I'm guessing I have a conversion problem, no surprises there. My T3 probably was virtually non existent. My final discovery was that my thyroid no longer hurt whilst off meds as it had before getting on to self treatment, 2 or so years ago. I believe this is because my immune system isn't attacking it because it's been out of action for so long. I'm happy with that. Don't burst my bubble.
