Guest guest
I use Lugol's on my shin, once a week or so. I smear it on with my palm, so I am " painting " about 50 square inches of skin per week. I also garle and brush my gums with diluted Lugol's, twice a day. On top of Lugol's I eat 1 tablespoon of powdered dry dulse sea veggie per day in food. Dulse package states that 1 tbsp contains 100% of the RDA. So I am getting quite a bit more Iodine than the RDA. I feel fine. Far better, in fact, than before I started taking in more Iodine. Guest guest
Kirsty,My teen is also having acne trouble, I thought giving her 2 drops in juice would help. We'd be willing to apply it directly, does it stain???JackieOn Sep 26, 2006, at 1:27 PM, emugirls wrote:my son has tried using iodine on his cystic acne - he's havingterrible trouble with the acne, has done so for years - so he'sexperimenting with iodine (lugols) on his face direct: put a couple ofdrops on finger and rub onto face. Guest guest
I used to tan with iodine and baby oil every day in the summer (just a few drops to color the oil) (actually now I think back that was the ONLY time I was ever skinny .. so anyway you might try mixing it with a creme (one for acne of course) so it's not too much in one dose .. also there is some studies showing dairy contributing to cystic type acne. You might try eliminating dairy from his diet. (also might consider a food panel assessment for IgE and IgG allergies). as the skin is an organ and he could be getting his reaction that way. and Iodine can stain (esp full strength). __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Hi Jackie, He puts it on the end of his little finger & rubs it on his face. When he's finished his finger is a little yellow, but within a couple of hours or less it's all gone. And there's no staining or marking at all on his face! We do it at night, after his shower and a while before bed - just in case there is some staining, but haven't had any so far. He also takes 2 drops in the morning in some water. He really feels that is has made a marked difference - the large boil like cyts have gone, the horrid raised purple-ness has gone and now we're at maybe the " ordinary " pimple stage. But it's far from looking good yet. He's very hopeful with the iodine! Guest guest
He's been allergic to milk proteins all of his life - so has never eaten any dairy or soy in his diet! We have kaiser, so unless you are dead it is inordinately difficult to get anysort of adequate treatment :-( Kirsty > > I used to tan with iodine and baby oil every day in > the summer (just a few drops to color the oil) > (actually now I think back that was the ONLY time I > was ever skinny .. so anyway you might try mixing > it with a creme (one for acne of course) so it's not > too much in one dose .. also there is some studies > showing dairy contributing to cystic type acne. She does get iodine daily (in the form of seaweed) which was helping, but losing the dairy made an amazing difference. I tried to use a topical solution, but so far she's refused on the basis that it's going away anyway so why bother? There was a major study done lately that showed a connection between dairy and acne. I don't think anyone knows why ... I have one off-the-wall theory that it might have to do with bromine, which is used to sterilize milking equipment and cow udders. Bromine is known to cause acne. Plus it interferes with iodine. But milk has a lot of natural hormones, and the milk in the stores has even more, so who knows. -- Heidi
Guest guest
Heidi, thank you. It's worth a shot. How long do you think before we would know it helped? A week? 2 weeks? My daughters coincides with her cycle.Jackie> I might add here: my dd recently went dairy freeto see how it affected her acne ... and her acneis going away. Guest guest
My son gets severe excema from wheat. (He's possibly Celiac - slow growth, skin issues, inability to digest milk, etc.). That's why I suggested a food panel allergy test - it's possible another food can be contributing to his problem (aside from dairy which is the most common). --- emugirls <emugirls@...> wrote: > He's been allergic to milk proteins all of his life > __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Dr T has good info on his website at thedoctorwithin.com regarding acne being related to dairy consumption, he says just what Heidi referred to, the skin is being used as an organ of elimination. If I remember correctly it's under the chapter called "Journey to the Center of your Colon." There's also a diet listed there called the New West Diet that eliminates a lot of the garbage out of one's diet for a trial that clears up a lot of problems. He says the mainstream dairy is basically a dead non-nutritional source and it's the cause of most allergies also.LinnOn Sep 27, 2006, at 3:10 AM, Ken & Jackie Reimer wrote:Heidi, thank you.
