Guest guest
Nothing! I'm trying to eat fish more, taht's about it. And I found some granulated organic kelp (mostly for hubby but sometimes I'll pinch it into my food) plus some sort of seaweed flakes. But I would like to get the 'real stuff'. Just don't know what to get. Tried to find at the health store and pharmacy and they didn't have it. The pharmacist didn't even know iodoral! She made me feel like I was my grandmother's grandmother about the lugols. Too funny... Esmeralda > > Well your target is 90% for saturation. Guest guest
Ok, then you would probably want to do 25-50 mgs / day for 3 mos and retest. Be careful of the kelp as some have been shown to be toxic in arsenic. You can order the Iodoral at www.illnessisoptional.com (12.5 & 50 mgs) or www.breastcancerchoices.org for 12.5 mg only. It is practitioner supplied only that is why you cannot find it in the stores. Some have been able to order Lugol's through a Wal-mart pharmacy. That would be a liquid form. Guest guest
Thank you very much. I will check those out and order. I had heard about the kelp. I'm hoping that the organic methods are keeping some of that stuff out. Who knows. I guess I'll start with 25 and note any reactions (and post). I have hashi and I know it's controversial but I'm willing to give it a try to handle my nodules. I will start right after my upcoming ultrasound so I have a comparison in 6 months. Guest guest
Steph...I posted my loading test results but maybe you didn't see them. On 50 mgs. my excretion was up to 59.4 -- 12 pts higher than before. How long did you stay at 50 mgs before upping to 100? Was that because you were unable to reach saturation on 50mg.? Also, bromide excreted was 32.02 mg. Isn't that awfully high? And is high a good thing or a bad thing. I'm so confused. Thank goodness for minds like you to help us figure all this out. Guest guest
No I did not see them. I didn't increase to 100 mgs until almost 2 years later but that was all part of Dr. B's learning process. We decided to increase after the iodine conference last year when thinking about bromide toxicity and how much we really might need to overcome it. My levels were not increasing much either. I had 60% and then 66%. I would say if you want to increase go ahead and try it. Your bromide is high and that is a good and bad thing. Bad because it is high but good because you are getting it out. That explains why you had such a difficult time in the beginning. Mine was 32 after 2 1/2 years on iodine. I have noticed that my detox at 50 mgs. has stopped the last two days. That tells me to up the dose. I'm just not ready to deal with the weight gain (vanity thy name is women.) I may wait till after the holidays and then go up to 75 mgs. I also am not exposed to as much bromide in the winter because I don't play golf -- methyl bromide on the golf course is my main bromide issue. IMNSO, that's why there is such a high rate of BC among female golfers. And, a high rate of Prostate cancer among male golfers. Scary stuff. BarbFPlan your next getaway with AOL Travel. Guest guest
FWIW, I just got back my loading results. The news gets better each time. After being on 50 mg for one year, my Saturation is 77.4% up from low 60's last October (I'm not exactly sure because I'm in florida right now and my October test results are in NJ) Excretion 38.7 %; Bromide Excretion 33.9 (up I think about 3 mg) Sorry I can't be more specific, but I can say for sure that I'm feeling much better. BarbF A Good Credit Score is 700 or Above. See yours in just 2 easy steps!

My bromide seems really high at 22.32H. I will be talking to Dr Flechas soon, and expect to be taking my iodine much higher to increase the bromide detox but wanted some feedback before the conversation.I'm feeling really disappointed that I'm in the same place regarding the detox. Are there any others who have experienced the same problem? What does it mean? I'm taking mg, vit c, selenium, atp factors. Do I need to up these or just the iodine? Many thanks
Guest guest
It takes a long time to get rid of this stuff. I was still toxic after 2 years of supplementing. I didn't really start to detox until I hit 100 - 125 mgs / day. You may also want to consider adding ATP Co-Factors if you haven't (I am thinking that you are taking it). You may be what they call a "binder" where your body really doesn't want to release the toxins. I had this issue with mercury and had to really hit it hard with chelation from all sides. Guest guest
I love seeing these success stories. Thanks for sharing Ali! Buist, ND HC Owner / Iodine Group Re: Re: Iodine loading results The same dose for three years seems to me to be the problem. I don't know the entire scientific explanation, but what I have learned here is that you are supposed to continually increase your dose of iodine (for me it is a 12.5 monthly increase) because the dose of 50mg has at some point pushed out all the bromide it can, and to push out more you need more iodine. This group encourages folks to keep upping the dose. I began three years ago at 12.5 mg and now I am at 14 iodoral (with six per day on weekends), or 175 mg. I have not done an iodine or bromide test since the beginning of my journey (iodine was in the 90's and my bromide was 19) but I do know that I have twenty fewer symptoms and I feel a lot better. I also know I am getting better because I have gradually decreased my desiccated thyroid hormone, Naturethroid, starting at 3 grains and now at 1/2 a grain. I hope that helps. And salt helps too. If your pee is cloudy, that is bromide. Guest guest
I am always happy to. Thanks .I owe my success to you.I still have my adrenals to heal, but I am more than half waythere.I hope I explained that cycle of detox ok.I could never have been able to afford a doctor and allthose supplements. At one point when money was tight my husband said I needed to stop buying them.I said I want a divorce because if I didn't have my supplements,I couldn't get well, and if he was preventing my wellnessthan I could not be married to someone like that.He backed down.It is so nice to discuss detox, and iodine to people whoactually care what you have to say. So many don't.Hugs,AliOn Jul 23, 2011, at 4:47 PM, ladybugsandbees wrote: I love seeing these success stories. Thanks for sharing Ali!
