Guest guest
>>>n, Thanks for your insight about hormones and estrogen. I'm on the journey of the change of life myself. I live in South Texas, would your doctor be able to recommend someone near me that could check my hormones and prescribe all natural ones for me if I need them? I'm 30 min, from Corpus Christi, and 2 hours from San ......... <<< Hi Dee, Sorry for delayed reply. I get the daily digest so it takes time wading through the replies the following day. I called my holistic MD to ask about referrals in your area and the receptionist said your best bet is to go the ACAM.org website (American College for Advancement of Medicine) or to call 1-800-532-3688. Do hope this helps you in your search. Although the best way to find a doc is by friend's referral and experience, I know that's not always possible and I'm sorry not to be much more help in this. One thing worth mentioning in advance of your trip to a holistic MD.... The good part is that the consultation and testing should be covered by insurance providers, if the testing is deemed necessary (just as with a regular doctor). However, bio-identical hormones and other alternative therapies are not covered, unfortunately, so these you will have to pay for yourself. Oh - one note that may be of import - there is some dispute over how the words " Natural " and " Bio-identical " are being used with regard to hormone therapies. Mainstream docs argue that those nasty equine hormones (made from mare's urine) are natural (because they're found in nature!). Ahem. However, they are not bio-identical to the human body! So, there's a difference between the two - subtle - but important when asking about Bio-identicals vs natural hormones. Of course, you are very fortunate to be living in Texas where Dr Vliet has her gynecological practice!!! She wrote " Screaming To Be Heard " and " It's My Ovaries, Stupid " . Her website is: http://www.herplace.com If I lived in anywhere in Texas, I would be going to her - although mainstream, she advocates the use of bio-identicals. Do hope this info helps!
