Guest guest
Thanks Sandy, I didn't think I was to drink much milk at all as it is liquid calories. Anyway, the hospital that I was done at is highly rated. Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, PA. That being said, they promote RNY. They do the Lapband, but the post surgical diet is strictly RNY. That is why the big delay in carbs. It is the only negative I've had. Guest guest
, that is a pretty big " negative'! We have to be very careful when the program we've chosen is not primarily bands. a hospital can be excellent, and even be a " Center of Excellence " , but still know nothing at all about bands or band aftercare. a hospital can be a COE for bariatrics without having done a single band, let alone be highly- experienced in band sugery and afercare. BAND nutition and BYPASS nutriion are completely different I'd urge you to see the band nutrition needs in the Band Guide in the files. run it by your doc, but you need veggies and fruits now, imo. the bypass diet is NOT for band clients. milk is the one exception to the " avoid liquid calories " rule (after we are back on soft foods and beyond) becuase it has the essential calcium we need, in addition to the calcium citrate supplements we all need. Band and bypass vits an mineral needs ae also completely different. Guest guest
It is a big negative. The hospital is a Center of Excellence and it is highly rated. It is considered one of the best in the state for both lapband and rny. That being said, I still feel that they shouldn't be putting the rny and band patients on the same diet. They've done a lot of bands. I did get to have cantaloupe and watermelon. They have a couple of Nuts there so some of it differs with which one you get. Their policy is 8 weeks out to add fruits and veggies and other carbs, but she will be giving it to me at 6 weeks out. There weren't a lot of options near me for wls. I could've went an hour away, but my docs program has a much higher success rate for weight loss and a better history for safety of surgery. I travel over an hour and a half each way. I have the band guide. I got it a while back. It is very good. At 11:45 PM 9/2/2008, you wrote: >, that is a pretty big " negative'! Guest guest
Please see the BAnd guide in the files for this type of basic info. About 1200-1500 cal a day is a good goal for most women your weight. As far as the frozen yogurt, you're right - don't buy it! We have to dmit we are food addicts. when you want a treat, go out and get ONE serving. Make it a regular treat so you don't feel deprived. I like air-popped popcorn for a bulky snack. Use an air-popper with no oil, and it's less than 100 calores for 3 cups. Great fiber, occupies our mouths for a long time as we eat it kernel by kernel, good crunch, and filling. Rice cakes are good too - with maybe one tsp of almond butter (better omega 3 than peanut) Sandy > Sandy, can you believe that my friend (3 years post op) went in for> a fill and her NEW band doc told her that she is eating too many> calories and she is consuming on most days at the most 1200 calories> according to her food log. He said he wants her to eat 600-800> calories. He is an idiot.> The nutritionist sees nothing wrong with her calories at> 1200, but knocked her for having 5 crackers with her tuna.My only thought on crackers is that they're easy to get stuck sincethey're so dry. And would be good if they were whole grain crackers, not saltines or some of the really sweet ones like Ritz.> I told> her to RUN from the doc!Well, any doc is better than none if you need a fill, but the thingsthey are pushing are goofy.-- " It's OK to be a little broken, everybody's broken in this life " Jon Bon JoviDan Lester, Boise, Idaho, USA www.mylapband. tkBanded 4/27/03, Dr. Ortiz, TijuanaStarted at 355, at goal > in the 210-220 range for almost 4 yearsUltimate goal of 195 Tummytuck in Boise and SmartLipo in Tijuana > > ____________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _________ _ > See how Windows connects the people, information, and fun that are part of your life. > http://clk.atdmt. com/MRT/go/ msnnkwxp10200931 75mrt/direct/ 01/ > >
