Guest guest
She was banded a couple of years ago now probably. (I'm banded too, but just since August) Anyway, she's a nurse, but administrative for a long time now, not clinical. She still thinks she knows exactly what's going on and how to fix it, but I'm kind of worried. Current meds: Something for blood pressure.. an antibiotic because she just had dental surgery.. valtrex because she has a fever blister (anti-viral).. nexium.. and a multi-vitamin. After her dental surgery, she wouldn't take narcotics for pain because she's just one of those people who won't take narcotics. She took tylenol, aspirin, and neither of those worked. She took 3 advil, and noticed herself spitting up streaks of blood. Not to say that the two are related, it could be something else. Day before yesterday and yesterday, she got dizzy to the point that she had to sit down. Still having problems with the blood, but says there's no black stool so she doesn't think she has a stomach bleed. She checked her blood pressure both times and it was normal. She's decided that either a) she has low iron or the valtrex is like an NSAID in her stomach. Therefore, she's stopped taking that and is now using only the topical cream. She was " oh.. maybe I'll call them tomorrow if it doesn't get better " I said that if she doesn't call her band doctor TODAY and tell them all of these things, I'm not speaking to her until she does. I also want to hear a full report back of what they say. I'm more inclined to think that she has a stomach full of ulcers or some band erosion, and the antibiotic isn't helping matters in the stomach. (I quit nursing school senior year and got a different degree, so I think *I* know everything. haha) Anyway -- I just needed to get that off my chest. Thanks internets. Oh.. small excitement for me as an aside. I'm so excited I almost don't believe it so I feel like typing it in a whisper if that were possible. As of this morning, I am below 300 pounds for the first time in 6 years. Since the fill last monday, I have a love/hate relationship with my band. I can't eat what I want anymore, but we're getting along because I'm losing weight. Jasmin

Guest guest
On your mom, yes, she should see a doc and get all that checked out. The possibility of low iron can be checked in about two minutes, as she knows. Another all too common case of " the shoemakers children going barefoot " I guess. Is she in denial because she's afraid it will be really bad? Or what? Not trying to analyze her, but you can't make her do anything, as you know. More below. I remember that day with myself, and it was wonderful. Maybe someday I'll " get into the ones " , but I'm not getting freaky about that. > Since the fill last monday, I have a love/hate > relationship with my band. She's a queen bitch and rules our lives, and like any other part of our lives being run by others we get pissed off about it. As long as you don't fight her too much, you'll learn to love her.... dan -- " It's OK to be a little broken, everybody's broken in this life " Jon Bon Jovi Dan Lester, Boise, Idaho, USA www.mylapband.tk Banded 4/27/03, Dr. Ortiz, Tijuana Started at 355, at goal in the 210-220 range for almost 4 years Ultimate goal of 195 Tummytuck in Boise and SmartLipo in Tijuana
