Guest guest
Can anyone give me advice on Armour Thyroid. I was diagnosed as having an overactive thyroid, the synthetic medication the doctor put me on gave me many side affects and I never felt well. I was given three options, surgery, medication fro the rest of my life or radio active treatment. Stupidly I choose radioactive but they gave me too much that it made my tthyroid under active and now I have to take the medication (thyroxine) for the rest of my life and I still feel unwell and find it almost impossible to loose weight. Just got of the phone to A Dr Toftt in Edinburgh. I tell him that I feel I have no energy and cant loose weight, I don't think that thyroxine is converting T4 hormone to T3, he tells me it does, so I ask why do I no feel better then, He advices me to make appointment with him to review the amount of Tyroxine I'm using. I ask him about taking Armour thyroid and he tells me not to, he explains that the levels in Armour thyroid cannot be relied upon and strongly advices me against taking it. I also said that I heard that because thyroxine is not converting T4 into T3 I had rad that this leads to osteoporosis, he says thats rubbish! Many thanks Harry Never miss a thing.
