Guest guest
Hello everyone, I've had lots of TSH tests since 2004 up to now, they are: 3.3, 2.1, 2.8, 2.4, 1.9, 1.4. (in date order) I have not been on any thyroid treatment. I went to see Dr P and he diagnosed me with severe primary hypothyroidism based on the results from urine test and symptoms and has said to start on one grain of Armour. The first TSH I had (3.3) they managed to do a free t4 which was 10 (9.0-25.0) back in 2004 and Dr P said I should of been treated then. I haven't had another free t4 until just now and was 12 (9-25). They wouldn't do free t3 despite repeated requests from my GP. My GP has also tested my pituitary hormones to see if hypo is caused by pituitary gland being underactive and not producing enough TSH, causing secondary hypothyroidism. He tested sex hormones and they were all normal and cortisol levels which were 508 (138-690), I have been on 4 NAE extra on Dr P's advice for nearly six weeks and salivary test showed erratic results but within range overall so slight problems with adrenals, notes on blood form said not to exclude mild or moderate adrenal insufficiency. I'm pleased to be starting treatment but worry that with a low TSH that there may be problems with my pituitary and don't feel confident that it's been ruled out! My GP said he's happy to go along with Dr P and try to get me Armour on the NHS. I'm just uncomfortable with this low TSH without treatment, anyone got any thoughts? Thank you in advance, Ruth x
