Guest guest
My naturopathic doctor first suggested I do coffee enemas, but I flat out told him no way. I thought he was a little off his rocker when he told me to do them. Then as I read about the Gerson therapy and how necessary coffee enemas were for healing, I decided to go for it. I followed the directions that were given in the Gerson books, and of course, there are directions on the net, so my first time was unassisted, and it's been that way ever since. I've always done them myself at home. It's very easy. You just need the proper equipment (enema bag, organic coffee, strainer) I always do a water enema first to cleanse out the lower colon. This makes it easier to retain the coffee enema for 15 minutes. At times I get a little bit of cramping, but I just massage my abdomen until it passes. There have been times when I couldn't quite make the 15 minutes, but for the most part, it's been pretty easy. My husband does them almost every day, primarily at the suggestion of Dr. Fuller Royal here in Las Vegas, who also does them daily and has done so for 20 years. I know this because I asked him about the safety of doing it that often and he told me that is how long he has been doing them daily and he has no problems with it. I asked about the glutathione depletion (the Gerson Org says you MUST drink at least 3 glasses of fresh squeezed juices per enema to replace minerals and nutrients), and Dr. Royal suggested Alpha Lipoic Acid as a supplement. My point I guess was that if my husband can do it, then anybody can. He thought I was crazy when I first told him about it, and now look at him...devoted to detox for life! He amazes me. Hope this helps! Patty --- In , Kenda Skaggs <kdskaggs@c...> wrote: > Hi Patty, > > Thank you for the info! I have to admit, I thought coffee enemas were hocus > pocus! Guest guest
Thank you Patty. I remember when I was growing up that my father did enemas every week. We have a history of IBS in our family and he needed them to move his bowels. I always thought it was gross, but once or twice I have been rushed to the hospital, thinking it was apendicitis, but it was compacted bowels. The enemas they gave me were very painful, but of course I felt better after. I can certainly understand how this would make one feel better. I think I still have a couple of questions based on your list of needed items. Are the actual directions for this on www.curezone.com? I think I saw it mentioned there. I'm just not sure what the bowl and strainer are for. I've only ever seen a straight water or fleet enema where the only item needed was the enema bag. Thanks,
Guest guest
Hi Patty, I hate to be ignorant here but I have never done this except with a Fleet bought from the store when I was a child. Do you hang a bag? How does it work? Do you buy them at Walmart or a specialty store? How do you know when enough liquid is enough? Do you hold the plain water or just fill and dump? I think I want to try this but I’m scared to death! I used to catheterize myself and fill my bladder with drug “cocktails” for IC years ago. I’m sure if I can do that, I can do most anything! Kenda I thought I answered this, but I don't see the post. I did the coffee enemas myself at home and they are really easy. When my naturopathic doctor first suggested I do them, I told him flat out No Way! I thought he was kinda off his rocker to even suggest it. But after I did some research and found that Dr. Gerson was using them with great success and they had scientific validity behind them, I just followed the directions on my own at home and it worked out pretty good. You just need a glass pan (or porcelain or whatever...just no aluminum), organic coffee, a strainer and an enema bag. It's actually quite simple. I do a water enema first to clean out. That makes retention easier. I usually have no problems whatsoever retaining the coffee enema for the 15 minutes. Occasionally I can't hold it the whole time, but for the most part it is a very relaxing time for me. I read my Bible or pray during those 15 minutes on the floor, so it's actually a very treasured time for me! If I start to cramp, I just massage my abdomen and it usually passes. My husband does the coffee enemas almost every day, and he started doing that because of a discussion with Dr. Fuller Royal here in Las Vegas that we had. Dr. Royal (he's an MD but focuses on homeopathic medicine as well) told us that he does them every day, and when I asked about the safety of that he said he's done it for 20 years with no problems. I know that the Gerson Organization recommends 3 glasses of freshly squeezed juices per enema to replace nutrients and enzymes, and when I asked Dr. Royal about that, he suggested Alpha lipoic Acid as a supplement to replace glutathione. I guess my point was that if my husband can do it, anybody can. He thought I was crazy when I first told him about it, but after he tried it one time, he became a believer. He said it makes him feel really good, and he has adopted a detox lifestyle that surprises even me. Hope this helps! Guest guest
Hey no problem, Kenda, I never knew how to do them either, before I started as an adult! Here's the directions from our file on coffee enemas. I think this coveres all the bases, but if you have further questions, please ask. Patty NOTE: It is a good idea to start with a warm water enema first, to remove the wastes present and ready to be eliminated. Then follow with the coffee enema for full benefit. BASIC DIRECTIONS (1) Boil 1 quart/1 liter water, with 3 rounded tablespoons of freshly ground coffee in non-metal pan (I use glass)over med heat. Use only filtered, purified or distilled water, not tap water. Do not use a coffee maker. Use only organically grown, non-decaffeinated coffee beans. Store coffee beans in the freezer to retain freshness. (2) Allow coffee to boil for 5-15 min, to evaporate the oils. (3) Let cool to body temp. (4) Strain, using a fine-mesh stainless steel tea strainer(it looks like screen wire) to strain out the grounds, leaving the " silt " . Since many of the beneficial elements for detoxification in the coffee are fiber- bound, it isn't a good idea to use a paper strainer, or even a cloth, unless it's got a fairly coarse weave. (5) Filtered water may be added back to make one full quart. Using an enema bag, insert coffee mixture into rectum. (It's best to hang the bag on a towel bar or door handle at least 18 inches off the ground.) Lie on your right side for 15 min with knees toward your chest, breathing deeply. (6) Evacuate bowels. Additional comments on the coffee enema: " Gerson knew that the coffee enema dilated the bile ducts and caused a flushing of toxic bile from the liver. (Drinking coffee constricts the bile ducts). He also knew that this was the most effective method for detoxification. Since Gerson's time various active ingredients in coffee have been identified and most interestingly, the palmitates present in coffee increase the binding of toxic elements by the bile 7-fold and this enzyme-enhancing ability in the liver and small intestine does not allow reabsorption of the toxic bile. Most cholerectic herbs do not ensure this complete removal of toxins but only an increase in bile flow. In order to assist detoxification I often recommend the coffee enema. They guard against a toxic build-up that can make you feel so dreadful and in this way help the body to heal. It is important to remember that the coffee enemas go hand-in-hand with the juices: no enemas - no juices and no juices - no enemas. The juices will remove toxicity from the tissues and the coffee enema ensures its removal to the outside. If used without the juices they will ultimately have a depleting effect on nutrients. The rule of thumb is - 3 juices (3 x 250mls) per coffee enema. If you increase the juices then you can safely increase the enemas. " From " Detoxing and the Flagging Liver(part 2 of 3)by (From Gerson Healing Newsletter Vol. 15, No. 3, May-June, 2000) http://www.gerson.org/healing/articles/nl_detoxingliver.htm QUESTION: How does coffee taken orally differ from taking it as a rectal enema? ANSWER: Coffee taken by mouth is a vasoconstrictor causing capillary and bile duct constriction. Drinking coffee is damaging to the stomach due to the aromatic fatty acids (which are not absorbed through the colon since the aromatics are boiled off in the " coffee enema recipe " preparation). Drinking coffee is an artificial stimulant and appetite suppressant as well as creating a more acidic environment in the body which is counter productive to healing. When taking the coffee enema, the caffeine and other components act to relax and open the bile ducts releasing toxins (as much as seven times the normal rate) from the liver. The glutathione-S transferase system is activated as well to enhance the functions of the immune system. Simply put, one is health giving and on is not. Choose the " coffee break " that is cleansing and supportive. Thousands of people have found this to be true. The coffee enema is also an excellent method for pain relief that is caused by toxic build up in the liver and colon. Remember, Dr. Gerson first developed his Therapy to cure his migraine headaches. However, a word of caution: any more than one coffee enema a day should be taken with sufficient juices and supplements to maintain a healthy balance in the body. Dr. Gerson spent many years developing a safe and effective therapy that requires some attention and study by the users. Still have questions? Guest guest
Hey, no problem Kenda, I didn't know anything about enemas before I tried these coffee ones. I'll just copy the directions we have in our files. I bought my enema bag at WalMart for about $5. It is a hot water bottle/enema combination bag. Works great. Guest guest
Thank you, Patty! I’m leaving again tomorrow for a week but will try it when I get home — if I get the courage. " >From " Detoxing and the Flagging Liver(part 2 of 3)by (From Gerson Healing Newsletter Vol. Guest guest
Hi http://curezone.com/cleanse/liver/kelley.asp How many people have used the above procedure? Does the coffee enema really help the expulsion process? I see some have used electric massagers on the liver/gall bladder area and hot water bottles. That sounds like a great idea. Castor oil packs are a mess but might do it better Can one get away with drinking lots of apple juice (or cider) for 2 days instead of 6? I used the above Dr Kelley procedure twice a few years ago. Did not get big results and I know I have gall stones. Soreness under right rib cage Thanks Dennis

Doing an hour long castor oil pack (with a heating pad placed on top of the pack) over the liver prior to doing a coffee enema is another very beneficial method of helping to support and detoxify the liver. (If you need information or links to instructions on how to do a castor oil pack, send an email to the group and I'll post some good links/info here.) Elan Below is an excerpt from this site: http://www.enemabag.com/coffee_enemas_how_often.html HOW OFTEN SHOULD I TAKE COFFEE ENEMAS? For people with cancer, the Gerson protocol involves daily coffee enemas, one every three to four hours. As part of a detox program that does not include combating cancer, we recommend taking roughly one to two coffee enemas per week. For both cancer patients and those free of the disease, Gerson's suggestion of taking more than one coffee enema on the same day is wise to follow, because the first enema series only pulls toxins from the colon and not from the small intestines. Remember, the therapeutic action of the coffee enema is on the gallbladder and liver. The ensuing increase of bile which is dumped into the small intestines needs time to pass into the colon, where it then needs to be eliminated. Taking a second enema series four to six hours after the first can be crucial to pulling from your body what was dumped into your small intestines previously that day. When the coffee enema is needed, there is a very clear experience of improved wellbeing after taking it. Once the body is well detoxified, once the bulk of the healing, regenerating, rebuilding, and weight loss is accomplished, once the efficiency of the organs of detoxification is restored, then the need for the coffee enema disappears. At that point, the coffee enema can still be used from time to time if a specific need arises. For instance, the coffee enema could prove useful when one eats unhealthy food, does a spring cleanse, is experiencing high stress, or is quitting smoking.
