know more about this Dr McDonogh, how did you hear about him please?

Members send me details of their doctors, especially if they turn out to be treating their patients with combination therapy such as synthetic T4/T3 or Armour Thyroid. I have a list of such doctors. The only thing I can't tell you about the majority of them is their bed-side manner, so you will have to take pot luck on that one. I personally think any doctor prepared to go outside the NHS (BTA) protocol deserves a medal and they couldn't be all bad.

Hi ,

Unfortunately he won't see me! I did see him in 2005. His secretary

was inappropriately advising me on my supplements and I requested to

speak to him to confirm. He suggested I had a 'personality clash' with

her! I was amazed and insulted, after spending upwards of 2500 euro I

felt I deserved a little more respect. My partner spoke with him as I

was so upset and he basically said he couldn't treat me any longer! In

October last I crashed and called him with credit card in hand from a

hospital bed twice, he sent a message through his secretary that too

much time had passed and he couldn't see me. I have a friend who is a

very high up government official and even had him call the week before

Xmas (in his official capacity) when I was in hospital again..his

secretary promised a call back but my friend didn't get one. I don't

get it. I was willing to put the whole thing behind me in the interest

of my health but apparently a former patient in need is not a priority

to Dr Magovern.

Thanks for your message ,

Sara

Hi Sara

I am sorry to hear you were treated in such a poor manner. I would

have expected more from him. Although I believe doctors try their best

to help patients, they can be difficult to deal with when you disagree

with them.

If Magovern doesn't want to treat you, maybe he could recommend

another doctor who shares his views/ philosophy?

I heard there was a sympathetic doctor in Cork, i can't remember his

name though. I will post it if the name comes to mind.

Sorry, not much help i'm afraid.

Thanks , if you think of the name do post please. I am currently doctorless and self-treating! Don't even bother with my local GP clinic anymore as they have no idea how to treat me except for suggesting xanax!! Have an appointment with Dr. Peatfield at end of January in London but it would be so nice to have a doc in Ireland. My current endo is pretty clueless. He seemed to think it was fine for me to have tremors! I've since learned I needed to increase hydrocortisone first to stabilize the Adrenals before adding in Armour again so that's what I did. I'm only back on 1/4 grain of Armour for the last 4 days to see how I react. So far so good, but I have alot of headaches in te last few days and can't know for sure if this is from being hypo or a toxic reaction to Armour. I feel though it's probably being hypo..I have horrible pain in my wrist too if I use it..carpul tunnell I believe caused by hypothyroidism. Hope you are having a good day, Thanks <pauljennings1977@...> wrote: Hi SaraI am sorry to hear you were treated in such a poor manner. I wouldhave expected more from him. Hi Sara

Many hypothyroids suffer from unexplaihned headaches. Professor Weetman gave evidence under oath at the GMC that in all his years of practice, he had NEVER had a hypothyroid patient complaining of headache - I seriously worry about the future of this man. Dr Thierry Hertoghe remarked on this explaining to the Panel that MANY patients suffer headache and the cause of this was Myxoedema. Myx (mucus like substance) oedema (fluid) causes pressure between the brain and the skull. This is the puffiness that lies under the skin and looks like cellulite and what makes hypothyroid sufferers look puffy in their face and especially around the eyes. It gets into every part of the body. I very much doubt it is your Armour that is causing this, and you are taking such a tiny amount and been back on it for such a short time.

Luv - Sheila

Hi Sara,

I take 2.5 mg bendroflumethiaside prescribed by my GP.

But when I've run out I've bought Aqua-ban from the chemist, which seems to

work about the same, but you have to have 3 doses a day instead of one.

Maybe you could try this and then approach doc if it helps.

hypo, what kind of diuretic are you taking please
