Guest guest
Im optimistic, but it has been a long time since Ive lost weigh. I did a check up with my Dr. and he gave me a small fill and said I look great band wise. So it has been seven months and I have lost about 50 lbs. So if I average it out it is about a pound and a half a week. But you know that number keeps diminishing as the months go by. I have long periods of absolutely no loss. What I do lose I don't get back, but damn this is tedious. Ok there is the rant. Now the work. I cheat mildly, perhaps that is the basis for not losing more regularly. Folks have suggested that loss is periodic and I can live with that if occasionally I see results. Perhaps that is the basis for my dissatisfaction, it isn't happening the way I think it should. Well Im not perfect and I don't do it by the book. So there folks, Im frustrated but not to the point of pulling hair. Just wishing for change to happen faster, neater, more obvious. Peace and blessings Arch
Guest guest
Hi, Arch - banding can be VERY frustrating. We will never lose at a steady rate, and there are commonly periods of no loss. still, every day is a day of better health and better life. It's not just about scale weight. Enough with the platitudes! now, some concrete suggestions to consider! If what you're doing isn't working, make some changes. 100 less calories a day. More activity/exercise (are you honestly getting some decent daily exercise? only you can answer this..) Take the stairs, not the elevator. Assess where you are for a week on www.thedailyplate.com, and improve a bit. Stay busy and active. Park further from the store and walk a bit further. Join a gym club. Join the Y and swim. Take up golfing and walk. Shoot hoops. MOVE more. Assess your protein, fiber, calcium, good oil intake - need improvement anywhere? Are you Eating the solid protein first with every meal, avoiding all liquid calories, and otherwise eating foods thatb will KEEP YOU SATISFIED? the band rules are given becuase they WORK and have a clear physiological basis. We can always choose to not " go by the book " , but there is often a price to pay. (This does not mean we have to be perfect to do well.) I don't buy the " live with it if we occasionally see results. " MAKE the results happen! no one is ever perfect, but there are ALWAYS things we can be doing a bit better. Guest guest
well, its been a year and three months and i have lost 50 lbs. actually the 50 lbs have been off for about 6 months now. i havent lost, but i havent gained. i have relaxed a little and this is the result. so i decided that it was ok. i know that at some point i will wake up and lose the 35 lbs that i want to lose...but i am tired of hitting myself over the head. i am making the best choices i can -- again, like you, not always perfect, but the band helps me keep the amounts down. people think i am still losing -- perhaps its the exercise and the fake spray tan that i just got because i am leaving for florida tomorrow!! :-) i hope to be able to see george again --- george i will call you! i havent been posting because i am rebelling against dealing with this! its like i want to live my life and get this to be a part of it. i suspect if i read the posts, and focused more on stuff i might lose more quickly. so when i am ready i will! Then, as is usually the case, it isn't the band on your stomach, it is the band you need on your head. > So it has been seven months and I have lost about 50 lbs. As already noted, plateaus are normal. However, assuming it has been several weeks, you either need a band adjustment or a head adjustment, and it looks like you just had the band part done. > What I do lose I don't get back, but damn this > is tedious. Ok there is the rant. Now the work. Yup, as you know, and prove, the band isn't magic, dammmit. How about that. Still no magic solutions. Grrrr..... > I cheat mildly, perhaps that is the basis > for not losing more regularly. I HATE the word " cheat " . What it means is you've not made the best choices. Such choices include BaskinRobbins, beer, hot chocolate, pudding, and lots of other nice yummy soft or runny things. > Folks have suggested that loss is periodic and I can live with > that if occasionally I see results. And it is changing the thinking that is the real bear to do....the bad thinking and the bad habits built up over the years or decades. > Well Im not perfect and I don't do it by the book. See what I just posted a while ago in my bandiversary posting. Especially the last thing, which I still struggle with. If you dno't do it by the book, you won't get results by the book. > So > there folks, Im frustrated but not to the point of pulling hair. Just wishing for change to > happen faster, neater, more obvious. Peace and blessings You can make them change. Really. And you will.
