Vitamin D and thyroid-adrenal conditions

Hello,

I've posted a few times in the past, but to refresh your memory, I'm

hypothyroid and I also had a very strange adrenal profile (according

to an NPTech 24-hour saliva test) - low throughout the day, then

shooting up at midnight. Dr Peatfield thinks an underlying adrenal

problem may be preventing uptake of thyroxin by my body, so I'm trying

Nuti Adrenal Extra, having stopped taking any thyroxin. I'm still on

just 1 a day, I'll move to 2 this week. No improvement yet, but I

can't say I'm missing the thyroxin either. Ruled out candida albicans

and ferritin (both normal). Saw an NHS endocrinologist this week,

who's sceptical about any adrenal problem (doesn't give much credence

to the salivary tests because they're not used as widely as blood

tests, so the normal range is less well-stablished - talk about a

self-fulfilling prophecy!).

But maybe I can thank him for one thing - he'd sent me for a load of

blood tests beforehand, and my vitamin D levels were extremely low. No

doubt due in part to my nocturnal lifestyle (I feel better in the

evening and night, which makes perfect sense when you consider my

adrenal profile). So I'll take a supplement and try and get out in the

sun more (if we ever get any this year). But what I want to ask is:

does anyone know if vitamin D is relevant to thyroid or adrenal

conditions in any way?

Take care one and all,

Simon
