Guest guest
Hi All, about someone a few months ago mentioned biobank !http://www.ukbiobank.ac.ukI have had a letter inviting me to join this national medical research project.also my husband, we are aged 40-69 who are eligible to take part in it.9th of June , but we have been on holiday to Dorset last week and had to change the appointment to the16th of august. It will take about 90 minutes and blood and urine sampleswill be taken also weight and how tall you are.I am to wear light loose clothing, and avoid wearing tights or stockings.it had better be hot then as i do not fill dressed without my tightslol.we can stop the process any time we like so thought to give it a try.I will have to complete a short questionnaire .(1) medications-list of medications that I regularly take all prescribed medicines, aspirin or vitamins, hormone replacement therapy,.(2)operations-list of any major operations where I had to stay in hospital for at least one night.(3)family history-I have to write down if my father, mother, brothers or sisters have had any of the following illnesses - lung, bowel.breast or prostate cancer: heart disease: stroke: high blood pressure: diabetes, emphysema, dementia or Alzheimer`s disease,Parkinson`d disease(4)how much did I weigh when I was born?,was I breastfed as a baby?also my address when I was born.the purpose of uk biobank is to study how the health of 500,000 people currently aged 40-69 from all around the uk is affected by their lifestyle.environment and genes. uk biobank is not intended to help directly those who take part-but it should give future generations a much better chance of living their lives free of diseases that disable and kill.I think DNA will be one test they are going to do, so may be this is a step in the right direction. i will let you all no more after august the16th.not a short order then lol. angel.
