The graph paper idea sounds like a great thing to try with my daughter who has

unreadable handwriting. I am emailing her teacher to see if anyone else has

tried it and let her know that I plan to. We are currently working with a vision

therapist to help keep words from jumping all over the page. Someone in a

different group I'm in for my other daughter recommended this training.

Let me know what the teacher has to say about it, would you. My daughter's

teacher does not have a good understanding of OCD, nor does she seem to care

to learn. My husband and I are having a hard time communicating our

daughter's needs. Hopefully the 504 plan were setting up for her, will help

future teachers take her needs seriously. Have you had experience with a

504?

I would consider a child study team evaluation including occupational

therapy eval, educational eval, and psychological. Psychological

problems and learning disabilities can often occur together and make

each condition worse. You will get a better handle on all of it if

you address all of it. It's worth knowing.

Best wishes,

Bonnie

I fought for 2 years to get Katelyn an IEP due to her ADHD related learning

problems. It did not seem that a 504 would be adequate to meet her needs. Will

let you know when I get a response from the teacher about the graph paper. Also,

if we make progress working with the vision therapist. Most of Katelyn's

teachers have been easy to work with as long as I let them know what she is

working on, med changes, etc. We have a deal now where if we can't figure out

some of her homework Katelyn marks it with a star and the teacher will give her

extra help until she understands it. (Katelyn is in 5th grade).

Hello people,

Firstly just want to say I'm feeling lots brighter, thanks to all of

your good selves. Have taken nae for approx 8 weeks now, and Armour

for 3 weeks, just up to 1 grain taken two halves,am + pm.

Sheila, I remember you saying to me 2-3 months back, 'don't worry

we'll get you feeling better', and of course you were right! Shame

about the Dr's along my journey though eh? None of them ever said

that!

Please can I ask yet another question of you knowledgeable folk?

First thing in the morning I'm still feeling groggy, (hung over)

despite the fact that I'm now sleeping well, don't consume any

alchohol etc. Also, usually have the pressure headache. When I had my

salivary profile done couple of months back, it was this time of day

and midday that my cortisol was lowest and well out of range, so I'm

wondering if this is more adrenal than thyroid, and if so, do you

have any ideas at all? I've been taking 2 nae in the morning and one

at lunch. I also am taking thyro complex 3 per day, crikes I should

be rattling!

Thanks so much, as always I look forward to reading your replies.

Enjoy Thursday,

Love,

You should be increasing your Armour every 3 to 4 weeks by half a grain. You may not be on enough yet, and the average is around 2 1/2 grains. I am taking 3 grains.

It could be that the NAE is not strong enough, or that you need to increase this. You can go up to 6 tablets a day. If you are a patient of Dr peatfield's give him a ring and ask his recommendations. Not sure whether you need thyro complex now you are thyroid hormone replacement.

Thanks so much, as always I look forward to reading your replies.Enjoy Thursday,

At this stage of the game , it is mainly down to trial and error until you get there - there being the place where you find your optimal health once more. When did you last have a blood test - these could tell us something.

I wonder , if like me, NAE just wasnt/isnt enough and until this is sorted no thyroid replacement will work completley, I have only just found this out after 2 yrs on T4 as you know.

By looking at my adrenal profile, my lowest output reading was 4pm and quite a lot of the time around this time of day I feel b****y awful, I can only come to the conclusion that is when I need the extra cortisone, first thing in the morning too I can feel shaky, wobbly and rough and that too was another low output result. I have started HC today, I think it will be what I need, I am hoping anyway. I dont feel any different after taking 2.5mg of cortisone so that tells me I must need more, but I am upping it slowly as advised and following the correct way of taking it. I didnt want to have to resort to this but I have had to and hopfully not for too long. I couldnt tollerate too much bovine products and stopped taking nutri thyroid not long after starting it and couldnt seem to tollerate too much NAE either, if you remember I had a few weeks of feeling really sick, thankfully that has gone.

Sorry I couldnt help more but I hope you get on the right track soon and sometimes we think we are on the right track only to find we arent!

Thanks Sheila,

Absolutely, I may well not be on enough Armour as yet. I'm only up to

one grain. Already though it's making a notable difference, so I'm

very positive that I'll get there eventually. My guess is I may need

two grains, based on a most simplistic equation, I'm feeling about

half better on one! Ha!

Hadn't appreciated I can go up to so many nae, they've made a

difference so I will raise them and persevere.

I'm not a patient of Dr P, (as yet) you may remember I saw an endo

from your list in July, in London. He was fine, but won't think

outside the reference ranges, so doesn't think treatment is

necessary. Also short synacthen test was fine.(As you predicted)

Other bloods he took mid July, (PRE-ARMOUR) were(Free T4 10.9 (9-26),

tsh, 1.72 (0.3-4.2) and Free t3 3.8 (2.5-5.7)To be honest with you,

after all the thyroid tests, scans biopsies etc ongoing since March

I'm a bit doctored out. Especially, as none of it has made a blind

bit of difference.

The ONLY way I have improved my health through understanding what's

happening to me is through tpa! So I'm self helping right now. But,

if I do ever need to see another Dr, Dr P is first on my list.

Thanks so much for your time,

Love,

You're so right there Jane,

Interesting, and if it hadn't been for all you lovely folk on tpa,

frightening! I feel my health was on a slippery decline, for at least a

year, with no answer, despite my questions to the Drs. Reading on here

how ill some poor folk have gotten before treatment, I feel very lucky!

Take care, enjoy the weekend.

Hi ,

I was also one of your tpa gang of pals who gave a big sigh of relief

when your hc turned up today! Lots of luck with it, after all that

waiting, it must be what you need.

My own health is slowly and steadily improving thanks, so I'll

persevere for now with what I'm doing and up the nae just a wee bit.

But, I'll get back to you with more questions if I decide to make the

same change as you in the future. Watch this space!

Take care and relax for the lovely long weekend.

Hi

I think I got on everyones nerves going on about the HC so much!! I just wanted and needed to feel confident about what I am doing and if its the right thing, we all need reasurrance dont we? Me more than others I think, but I do feel as if I have been through a lot in the last 2 yrs, stress, anxiety, depression, worry, you name it, so no wonder my adrenals are poorly! I hope you continue to feel better everyday
