Guest guest
Don't you think that if this was as big an issue as your making it out to be, then the big Vitamin/Supplement companies and the big distributors i.e. Source Naturals, Country Life, Allergy Research Group, Jarrow, NOW, GNC and iherb, Vita Cost, Puritans Pride, etc. etc. would have their attorneys and publicity teams all over this. After all, they stand to lose huge revenues if this Guidance were to succeed. Yet, not a peep from the people who stand to lose the most. It doesn't make sense if they are not alarmed. This sounds more like pure alarmist rhetoric and I have received similar Alarms over the past few years none of which were ultimately real. I think it's a bogus threat as well. Guest guest
Well Ralph, Codex, which we signed on to through a trade agreement, has already not only limited access to supplements within Europe, but driven the prices up considerable. What would indicate to you that it will not have similar effect here? Now, if I were a manufacturer of a product and my profits were going to skyrocket, I might be inclined to sit back and and allow legislation to progress. In fact, I might donate money to the campaign or hire the wife of a legislator sympathetic to my cause. Take a look at the latest news release by the AHPA (American Herbal Products Assoc.) on this issue. Is the current state of affairs in regards to prescription medications in terms of cost and regulation alarmist? Get me on a bus to Canada with my wallet in my pocket as soon as possible. Meanwhile I will be popping Viox (60,000+ dead, 180,000 heart attacks) and Fosamax like candy. Interesting that modern medicine and the pharmaceutical industry are banging their chests and waving their flags on the less than one percent reduction in cancer deaths over the past year when breast cancer (number 3 killer in women) deaths have decreased almost 20% since 2002 when the link to HRT was finally recognized publicly and use decreased by 63%. Also interesting that my post of last night has not shown up in my inbox. I am going to resend it out in case it is hung up in cyberspace again. It was specific to this portion of the discussion. If anyone thinks that your government's primary concerns are your's, you are seriously deluded. To sit back and parrot the official line is like getting up there and telling us that global warming doesn't exist. As pissed off as I am about Gerjief's (sp?) statement that 90% of the people are asleep, and if someone wakes up, someone else falls asleep, it seems to be fairly accurate. Wake up. -Dave ----- Original Message ----- From: ralphjarmon<mailto:r_jarmon@...> gallstones <mailto:gallstones > Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2007 8:32 AM Subject: FDA and DHSEA Don't you think that if this was as big an issue as your making it out to be, then the big Vitamin/Supplement companies and the big distributors i.e. Source Naturals, Country Life, Allergy Research Group, Jarrow, NOW, GNC and iherb, Vita Cost, Puritans Pride, etc. etc. would have their attorneys and publicity teams all over this. Guest guest
Being from the uk..I can tell you that the EU has already been setting very limiting rules and regulations regarding the sale of nutrient and herbal products..and year by year they seek to make the rules as strict as they can ! Dave is quite right in the points he has made..and C odex, seeks to makes these rules a worldwide ruling.. Any Big Nutrient Company not making a big fuss..has to be viewed with some suspician, and one wonders what they know that we don't! So folks in America..if you don't want to be where already are in the EU..then get supporting all of the organisations that are working to protect your health freedom..after all, you will be the first to moan..when your choice is seriously limited.. This has already happened in the EU..( a most corrupt organisation!) anne
Guest guest
I've read somewhere that the large nutrient companies are being bought up by the pharmaceutical companies. Maybe that explains it.
