Guest guest
Mine slipped due to throwing up so much. I was too filled and stretched out the pouchand then just over ate. It was horrible. I went without food for 8 days, and water for 3, until they could fix it. I am sure it was my own fault. I had severe reflux and a hiatal hernia as well. That may have caused some of the problems. Good luck, Sue Carolina <yoquieroadelgazar@...> wrote: Thanks for your response. Another question my surgeon in Chile told me that after the 2nd year there is less possibilities that the band slips? Sue what a great news I will tell my friend how well you are doing. tell me did your surgeon give you any explanation of why it slipped? or it is just the stadistics. 2-5% is so little I hope I am never one of that % . Guest guest
Hi, Lexanne - I'm sorry you're having trouble. Let's see if we can offer some thoughts. That last one cc fill jump was a lot, at that stage. fills generally need to be smaller and smaller as we creep up on a good level. As little as 0.1 - 0.2 cc can be the difference between " too little " " just right " and " Ack! too much! " . Have you had a recent fluoro with any of these unfills? My first suspicion is that you have either a pouch or esophagus dilation, and both can only be diagnosed with a barium swallow (fluoro) . both require a total unfill and rest period, then slow, small refills until one is at a good level again. a pouch dilation is a type of small band slip. If there is a pouch or esophagus dilation, a small unfill is not adequate. All pressure from any fill must be relieved, to allow healing over time. The acid-supressors like Nexium are usually just masking the reflux symptoms, while the reflux itself is continuing. This is why you must find the REASON fo the reflux, and correct it. Re the back pain, it would be a simple thing to see your family doc for tests to rule out GB trouble and kidney trouble. But it's most likely that the pain is related to the band stuff, in this case. Any pouch/esophagus/band trouble can cause pain thast radistes to the low back. You'll need some good detective work here by your basnd surgeon and by your family doc to figure out what is going on. In the meantime, please be sure you're following all the anti-refrlux things bandsters need to do (see the " links " here for this info) Also be sure you're taking only small or liquid meds, and nothing within an hour of bedtime, even the acid reducers, whcih can themselves cause reflux if taken at bedtime. anyone else have ideas/experiences to share with Lexanne? Guest guest
a lot of people have problems with gallstones after losing weight. They don't always have to be correlated with high fat foods. It happened with both me (on a prior weight loss) and my father in law. If it continues be persistant and ask for a gallbladder ultrasound. N -------------- Original message -------------- From: " stampaddicted " <ldunford@...> I don't post often, but read every post. I am very appreciative for all the information on this board. Here is my dilemma; I was banded on September 14, 2007. I slowly got filled to 6 ccs. I went from 5 cc to 6 cc in one fill and after that was too tight. Got a small defill, slowly got too tight again, got a little defill, slowly got tight again, etc. Since February, I have been having the same issue, started with acid reflux in the night and got more of a defill. Was put on Nexium and have not had the heartburn or the reflux, but depending on the day, I am too tight and have a hard time with liquids more than solids. Sometimes I have a pain accross lower back that seems to wrap around. The doctor said to maybe watch for gallstones, but it does not seem to have a rhyme or reason to it. RE: high fat. I have the small 10 cc band and am sort concerned of a slip. Any suggestions or help would sure be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Guest guest
hi lexanne, i have had the same trouble.banded in 2005 my fill was always quite restricted but being ignorant of the real meaning of the band as a tool thought great cant eat very much.three years down the line and i ended up like yourself withacid reflux and oesophgitis unable to eat solids and eventually liqueds wouldnt stay down.with great advice from sandy {not my local doctor] i had a complete unfill.this last 4days have been heaven.like a starving person introduced to food again.what pleases me is that i am not craving wrong foods but real good healthy foods like veg, cereals protein..looking back i havent been able to tolerate food for at least a year.now i am going to build my strength back up and start to live life to the full..the pain i used to get when trying to eat or drink varied to a tight band around my back, under my chest and pain in my throat. hope things settle for you sheila My Band I don't post often, but read every post.
