Guest guest
Hi there I just joined your boards so HIYA to all :)/ I have been suffering for years from various hypo symptoms to greater or lesser extents, never been well on T4. My blood pressure started to boderline high a few years ago but recently got very very high and I am on Olmatec. I have asthma, but I think that is not all my breathlessness because I do hyperventilate. I was recently diagnosed with CFS and FM but to be honest I think a lot of it is that my thyroid is not being treated properly even tho the bloods say it is 'controlled'. I am morbidly obese which is something I never was before I got hypo 25 years ago. I am a little worried. I have asked for ARmour, the doc is going to ask my endo if I can have it, because he has never heard of it and does not know what I am talking about with most of what I have read on the net. Now after seeing people get funny head feelings with Armour I am a tad worried about what might cause this. I worry particularly because I suffer with OCD. (on Seroxat(Paxil))and other psychological problems. Once again HIYA and God bless
Guest guest
Hi Blondie , Welcome to our forum and we will try to help and support you. first, can you let us know what dose of thyroxine you are taking and how long since your last increase. Also, can you post your last thyroid function tests. These should include your Thyroid stimulating Hormone (TSH), Free thyroxine (FT3), Free Triiodothyronine (FT3). These results are yours by law. You need the number for each test and remember to get the reference range for each test also. For your BP, you might consider taking high dose of CoEnzymeQ10 and high dose of Niacin (Vitamin B3). These help lower BP and high cholesterol and are natural forms of medication. Many hypothyroids develop asthma, and other breathing problems and you are correct, many people diagnosed with CFS and FM are really suffering with a thyroid problem that is relieved with the correct thyroid hormone replacement. Your GP will not have heard of Armour because it is a very old medication, been around for over 100 years and has been used very safely and effectively since that time. Because there have never been problems with it, it never required a license, and many doctors believe it is unlicensed because it has had potency problems. A myth put around by the drug reps. pushing thyroxine. People who are particularly sensitive to Armour have to take things very slowly. Armour contains T4, T3, T2, T1 and other unspecified goodies. The active hormone is T3 and it is when a very small number of people introduce this for the first time their body can react in this way. This is often because their adrenals need boosting, they have low ferritin level (stored iron), they have Candida Albicans or other problems that have to be sorted before starting Armour again. The majority of people starting Armour react excellently, regaining their health and able to live normal lives again. We are trying to get the message over to all the endocrinologists to give their patients a trial of Armour if they do not do well on synthetic T4. You might need to change to a medication containing T3 and this is why you should be referred to an endocrinologist. Luv - Sheila I am a little worried. Guest guest
MODERATED TO REMOVE MESSAGES ALREADY POSTED. PLEASE CAN YOU DELETE ANY MESSAGES OR PARTS OF MESSAGES YOU ARE NOT RESPONDING TO AS SCROLLING THROUGH THEM ALL MAKES IT VERY FRUSTRATING FOR PEOPLE WHO HAVE OPTED TO RECEIVE DAILY DIGESTS OR TO READ DIRECT FROM THE WEBSITE. MANY THANKS - SHEILA. _________________________________ HI there and thanks for your reply I am on 175/150 alt Levothyroxine 30mg Paxil 5mg epam 10 mg Olmatec Selenium ACE High Stength Cod Oil Multivit Cats Claw 2 x 300 Calcium/Magnesuim/Vit D Tab Ferrograd C (500) Vit B complex Garlic Pearl Flixotide Serovent Salbutamol I have trouble remembering which day I have taken 150 and when I have taken 175 doh. I don't have a copy of my labs, it was taken last by the endo a few months ago but I know for a fact he did not do my Free T3 because I asked my GP and he said they normally only do that for over active, I know that is not correct though. So I could try and get a copy of the ones that were done by the endo but not sure how much value they would be as they sound as though they aren't what I need. If I ask him for more bloods I think my doc will freak out lol. I have got quite pro active in my treatment lately and I hope I am not annoying him too much. When for instance I mentioned my adrenals he looked at me as though I must be some kind of hypochondriac. Anyway I hope my meds help some in seeing if I am doing anything wrong.
