Hi - sorry you are having trouble and I'm glad you're seeing Dr. quickly.

It's most likely a pouch or esophagus dilation and this is fairly common.

Treated with an unfill and fest period, during which it will shrink back to a

near-normal size. It could also be a small slip, which is basically treated the

same. Only a fluoro will tell for sure.

Since you were banded In Mexico, I'm afraid you couldn't get the new AP band

that has a much lower risk of slips and erosions . That is the only inamed band

the US docs have used since 2007.

Too soon to worry about losing your band, though. Let's see just what is wrong

first.

Yes, liquids only and no reason not to get and take some OTC omeprazole to

reduce the acid and help rest the stomach til u see Dr. .

Good luck, and please ldt us know how u are.

Possible problems?

Hi all. I got my band in August 2008 in Mexico, Dr. Kuri, and I've seen Dr.

in Ventura, CA for fills since then. I have NEVER had any issues with

acid reflux or super-tightness before, but for the last two weeks, I've had

both. I actually got stuck on my mid-morning yogurt recently! I've had

heartburn constantly for the past two weeks, especially if I bend over or lie

down. It seems to be getting worse, too. And for a long time after I get into

bed at night, I can hear my stomach loudly gurgling away (which also is very

unusual for me).

I have an appointment with Dr. this coming Tuesday (the soonest I could

get in), but I wanted to know what you all think might be going on. I haven't

had a fill in close to a year and a half now, and I've never been very tight to

begin with. Haven't vomited in ages, nor have I slimed. While I don't follow

all the rules perfectly, I haven't done anything outrageous like entering a

pie-eating contest lately. And I haven't changed my diet at all, so the acid

reflux isn't food-based.

So what gives? Thoughts? Should I just be drinking liquids at this point until

my appointment on Tuesday? Should I be concerned about losing my band? I'm

very nervous contemplating another surgery.

Thanks,

h
